STS
Wondering if anyone knows where the relay for the drivers heated seat is located on a 1997 STS. Also if anyone has ever replaced one of these relays is there any special tricks getting the dash or whatever off to access the relay. Thanks in advance,
STS
I ended up fixing it myself at lunchtime, since I am familiar with electronics being and instrument technician. I tracked down the black relay under the seat and removed from the socket. Upon cleaning the contacts I found the seat to still be intermittent. I finally found that two of the solder connection where the pins connect to the base of the black relay had small circle breaks around them thus making the relay device only work occasionally. I simply touched up the two solder connections and it works perfect. I wonder how much that little black relay timing circuit device would cost from a dealer? Just curious how much I saved by fixing it myself?
STS
I am having a good discussion with myself here, anyway, I wrote down the part number of the relay module # 25638146 and looked it up on GM parts direct and the list price is $111.71 with GM parts direct price of $63.67. I guess that I answered my own questions today.

I currently (12/4/2010) have 6 NOS seat heater control relays for sale at $19.95 each. they are part # 25638146, and will also replace older relays, part # 16621922. If you buy 2, I will pay the priority mail to US locations. If your leather seats are intact, there is a 50/50 chance that a new control relay will get you going again. The word control is why these relays cost so much. Inside these relays, there is a timer circuit and a comparator circuit to cycle these seat heaters on and off.
