Horn, revisited

The horn in "on again, off again". Works when it feels like. I'm starting to think it has a mind of its own.

Passenger light turn signal went out today. Looks like I need a new socket soon. The bulb would not keep perfect contact so it too was "on again, off again".

Driver side cornering light socket looks like it went dead as well.

What next? sad.gif

If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.

With a 14 year old car its anyone's guess I suppose. When the monthly repairs reach the cost of a new car, I guess you can justify buying a new car laugh.gif

Marika, when you first came to the site, if I recall you did a lot of your own repairs, is my memory right? Get in there and get dirty, we can help you if you run into a jam..

You sometimes sound frustrated, when you say, What Next? These things are going to happen as the car gets older, corrosion happens along with connections that loosen up. North Jersey should have a ton a scrap yards to buy horns, etc if the horn is defective. You know we are here to help you

Alright, I'm putting on my gloves and I'll be rummaging around the junk yards looking for "new" connectors.

This morning, when I went to start my car, the hazard light symbol lit up on the dashboard and the two directional pointers on the dashboard lit and would not turn out. The hazard light button was not pushed in. I turned the car off, then on again, and the hazard light symbol turned off, both directional pointers turned off and when I tested the turn signals, both were behaving normally again. They still seem to be OK. The horn is still not working, except once in a great while, it does.

GREMLINS are inside my car's electrical system. mad.gif

All problems seem to be pointed to the steering wheel or column. Are there any relays or anything else under the dashboard that could be causing this? About a week ago, I saw a puff of smoke coming out of the center air vent on the dashboard but I didn't smell anything. I havn't seen any smoke since. blink.gif

GREMLINS! Have you checked the battery cables?

Yes, they seem fine at both ends.

Driver's side cornering light came back to life tonight, all by itself. dry.gif
