CRUNCH, CRUNCH

Well I thaught it was the CV half shaft in the 98 STS, but I guess not!

I am still getting the crunching noise from the front drivers side, when I accelerate.

Any Ideas?

Wheel bearings like to Crunch when they get bad.

Usually does it all the time, not just when you accelerate.

Wheel bearings are difficult to check. A bad one will be smooth when spun by hand and have no visible play.

However it would be my first choice.

If you're energetic, you could swap the two front wheel bearings with each other to see if the problem moves to the other side.

I have about 140 000 miles.

I will try the swap.

Ok.

I have tried everything.

I still have a crunching noise.

I only get it when there is a lift on the front end. ie, when I step on the gas in drive, or step on the brake in reverse?

It is a really annoying sound, like a click/grind/crunch????

Anyone else have any suggestions?
