Jason15036
Hey I have these codes for the suspension system and I was wondering if someone could clear up exactly what it meant. I think they refer to a sensor.I'm not sure though. I was wondering if this is a sensor problem or something will a sensor off of a 96 or 97 sts work. Mine is 98. Any help would be greatly appreciated. C1727 C1761
Jason15036
I think code c1727 means right rear damper open circuit and c1761 means right front position sensor input fault If im correct are these part I can get off of a 1997 or 1996 sts and if so what do the parts look like. Any help on the topic would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Jason
JimD
You have done some other driveline / suspension / brake repairs on this car, right? There are a few items to inspect before you start buying parts. It is possible you have one or more chassis connectors not installed correctly, or shows bent, damaged, corroded connector pins. Carefully inspect the wire bundles in the area. Your position sensors (4) are mounted on the subframe with a small diameter round link that attaches to the control arm. Be sure the link is in place. Also follow the wire bundle from the sensor to where it connects to the chassis wiring looking for damaged wires and loose connectors. The RR damper valve DTC could also be an open wire harness. You can see the damper valve on the lower half of the shock tube. Follow the wire bundle from the valve to the connector at the chassis checking for wire and connector damage. The damper valves are not intended to be replaced and I doubt if you could locate a part number for a new valve. Plus, you would have to remove the shock to replace the valve in any case. Repair any damage you find, clear the codes, and test drive it. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE !
Jason15036
I have already checked all the wires on the chasis and made sure they are clean and plugged in tightly. I Have had the service suspension system on since I bought the car. If i were to get the parts off of a 96 or 97 would they work. ANy help would be greatly appreciated on this topic. Thank You, Jason I could only use the parts from a 98 to a 2002 on my STS. I really would think you would be in the same boat as me. I am not sure, but do you have any pics of the rear? I will let you know if it looks like mine. Big Jay Life is too short to grow up!
bigjayzway
C1761 - Right Front Position Sensor Input Fault I had this on mine, and all it was, was the link between the sensor, and the suspension. Here in Ontario it was $33.00 for the new one at the dealer. Here is a pic I have of it(missing the link). Big Jay Life is too short to grow up!
