Martin Cadillac Dealership

I went to the Martin Cadillac stealership here in New Jersey on saturday to get my transmission drained, new filter and gasket.

Now mind you, the transmission never leaked from the pan before I got there.

Took them over 1 hour to take the car in. Took them about 1 hour or so to get the job done.

They came to me with the transmission pan and said I would need a new one because it was damaged on the edge. Very slight dent was on the edge of the pan. They said they would try to fix it. Now the transmission is leaking fluid mad.gif

One top of it all, they quoted me a price of $160 for the entire job. At the end of it all they handed me a bill for $204. Thieves!!!

If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.

How did you determine it was leaking tranny fluid? Is it leaking badly?

It's a dime to quartered sized drop of RED stuff. laugh.gif

Car used to be bone dry underneath.

They could've just spilled some. Or Messy Marvin was the one working on it. A dime or a quarter is pretty small stuff. I'd give it a few days and see if it persists.

Marika,

Your mechanic probably would charge you half of that. Why stealership?

They had the parts and were ready to get it done. But that price quote...WOW!!!

LOL!!!

That's what the bodyshop said. Wait and few days and see if it "settles down".

Marika,

Don't they have to honor the quote within 10%.

Check your paperwork. Can Someone else chime in?

Twenty-five percent ove the quote is a lot of dough...

how much of that is tax?

Did they replace the pan or fix it? Did it appear that the can was cracked through or just dented?

I saw a very small dent in the pan, no cracks. They didn't replace the pan because the said they didn't have it in stock. They would call me once they have it in stock.

Sales tax is 6% in New Jersey.

So far I've succesfully found a law limiting the consumer's liability to only 110 percent of the cost stated on a written estimate...in the state of washington. I have yet to find anything that helps those of us in NJ out.

edit: And 20% or 50 dollars more in Delaware...whichever is less.
