tmpafford
I bought the two engine torq mounts for my 97 STS on RockAuto.com One for about $13 the other for about $14. Autozone and Pepboys wanted about $35.00 each. Thank you to whoever told me about RockAuto!

I can grab mine and they move, like the bushing shunk.
tmpafford
Just got them in today. Have not had a chance to put them in the car. The old ones were shot. One has a chunk(!) missing out of one of the bushings, the other had splits in both bushings. I am hoping that these will stop the soft "thump" I feel when shifting gears. Replacement does not look too hard since they are right there in front. I will let you know when they are in.

tmpafford
Did the replacement in the parkinglot after getting to work. Both old mounts had rubber that was hard, cracked, and in some places missing. It took about 10 minutes to do the replacement. Have not driven the car yet, had to get work. tmpafford
Drove it out to lunch today. Shifting seemed smoother. Did not feel the "thump" that I used to feel when moving from second to third. There even seemed to be a smoother transition from reverse to drive. The passenger side torq mount looked like it had shifted forward in its mounting bracket towards the radiator about 1/2". I was not able to push the engine back by hand, and I did not try to use the mount and a pry bar to push it back. Sould I have done this? ( The forward bolt monuts into an elongated hole to allow for adjustment. There was a marking on the bracket where the bolt and washer were at one time.) Open the hood and watch the engine while power braking (keep your left foot on the brake pedal FIRMLY and press the gas pedal while in D or R). The engine should not jump up more than 1/2''.
