DTS_driver
I took my DTS to the dealer for rear main seal leak under warrenty. They changed the seal and had the car for 3 days for the job. I got the car back and since the job the car has been leaking power steering fluid everywhere, I have to fill up every trip. I took it back to them and they said its the main high pressure line which is a molded line. They also said it has noting to do with the job because "the transmission was only dropped not the cradle" for the rear main seal job. I belive the cradle with engine and transmission must be dropped for this job. Can the dealer be lieing or is this tru? Can this be done only dropping the transmission? CBOYLE15
Yes... Their is a trick that a good mechanic can use to drop the transmission without dropping the entire cradle. Just have the Power steering leak fixed unnder warranty. We had the lower Half case gasket replaced on our 1999 SLS and they just removed the transmission. They get paid for the bigger job. BUY THE EXTENDED GM WARRANTY! Good luck Charlie
DTS_driver
see my only problem is the warrenty I got is just covers the engine...I recently had a new Northstar engine installed about 12,000 miles ago the rest of the car has no warrenty, So it is possible to change a rear main seal with out dropping the cradle?
