sunridge
my 96 deville transmission was trashed, so I bought another transmission from junkyard from car w/ 89k miles. Shop installed new trans, but was not familiar w/ computer settings, etc. It seemed to shift ok in 1st and 2nd, but not into 3rd. Also, the speedometer is way off, like showing 95 when really going about 55. also, the display shows "kts/hr" - it is clearly showing knots instead of mph. I have been poking around on internet and found 'Simultaneously press the "OFF and "WARMER"'. it landed on PSM? so I hit the up arrow enough times that I think it successfully "cleared codes". is there anything else I need to do to get the computer to correctly recognize the new transmission? can someone tell me how to get it to switch from knots to mph? many thanks Russ
Ranger
It is not reading "Knots" it's reading Kilometers (unless yours has wings). Press the "ENG/MET" button on the left side of the dash to switch back to mph.
adallak
I mile = 1609 meters= 1.609 kilometers [km] You took the car to a transmission shop which never worked on Northstar's powertrain? The saddest thing in life is wasted talent
Phillip
On the '96. I think that you change from Metric to English unit by pressing the center button in the Driver Information panel to scroll through until you get the Metric/English prompt. Use the reset button to toggle between the two.
