canadian95sts
kjc, When you pull on the release lever, does it pull out really really easily?, or is there a lot of tension making it hard to pull out??? No tension usually means the cable has snapped lots of tension usually means the cable is kinked or stuck, or the mechanism under the hood is sticking. speedyman_2
Hmm Pull the release as far as you can. Then go to the hood and give it a few light taps across the front edge. It might pop up for you that way. But this is a sign that it needs some type of repair.
Regis
hello, just pick up my 97sts from the body shop and i cannot get the hood open! am i an idiot or is there something i need to know? does it need power? nothing happens when i pull the release. thanks folks What did you have done at the body shop? You didn't happen to have the hood painted did you? If yes then I'd just let them deal with it if it's not imperative that you get under the hood. If it is then you might try pulling and holding the release lever out while someone else pulls up on the hood. The spring that pops the hood up might be "missing". On my car I can feel the tension on the release lever. On some other cars I couldn't feel a thing when pulling the release lever. Simply smooth and silky like butter....of course I prefer to feel it. Just personal preference. "Burns" rubber " I've never considered myself to be all that conservative, but it seems the more liberal some people get the more conservative I become. kjc
car was at the body shop getting the doors and fenders replaced on the passenger side, and it is now sunday and they are not open (this is a car i purchased earlier in the summer with the cracked flywheel and im towing it it florida for a winter project). it is absolutely pouring rain as we speak and i am not in the mood for this! if it lets up a bit i will give it one more heroic effort and see what happens! thanks
Regis
The hood has to be popped to remove the fender. How long ago was the work done at the body shop? Was that the last time the hood was opened to your knowledge? If so and it was recent then I'm sure they'll make it right. It's raining here too (going on 3rd week) but I like it. As long as it's dry on move day. "Burns" rubber " I've never considered myself to be all that conservative, but it seems the more liberal some people get the more conservative I become.
