Caddynut
I was driving my '92 Seville and my instrument cluster quit working on the highway. I kept driving until I got to the next exit. By then...my battery was dead and I had to pull off the road. I saw that I blew the 10 amp fuse for the instrument cluster...replaced it....and I got ONE start out of the car and the battery started charging up just fine. I can't believe that Cadillac designed the electrical system in that way that the charging system wouldn't charge my battery because my instrument cluster fuse blew. 2008 BMW 328xi 2007 Chrysler Aspen 2001 Cadillac Seville STS 2000 Ford Ranger XLT1998 Mitsubishi Spyder Convertible 1996 Saturn SC-11991 Ford F-1501979 Chevrolet Caprice1968 Ford LTD1965 VW Beetle "Herbie The Love Bug Replica** 1961 VW Beetle
Scotty
I can't believe that Cadillac designed the electrical system in that way that the charging system wouldn't charge my battery because my instrument cluster fuse blew. What is the status of the charging system and car now? The IPC has nothing to do with the charging system I believe, nor do I think that GM would design a charging system that cascades behind the IPC, and on IPC failure the charging system is shut down. What is your current status? Its possible that something else created your problem, such as a bad ground. I will browse through the book to see if I can figure out what happened. In the meantime I would not take any long trips until a reason for this blown fuse /dead battery is found. The first thing I would do however is clean the battery connections, checking the positive cable carefully
Caddynut
The car is running and charging fine now. I can't explain it either. It was just strange that my instrument cluster quit working and the battery discharged and immediately when I replaced the fuse...started it....it charged fine. I thought it was odd 2008 BMW 328xi 2007 Chrysler Aspen 2001 Cadillac Seville STS 2000 Ford Ranger XLT1998 Mitsubishi Spyder Convertible 1996 Saturn SC-11991 Ford F-1501979 Chevrolet Caprice1968 Ford LTD1965 VW Beetle "Herbie The Love Bug Replica** 1961 VW Beetle
