Bruce Nunnally
Took my 2005 CTS over to Crest Cadillac here in Plano, Texas to let them look at the rear differential. During my recent wheel rotation I noted that the lower portion of the rear differential was lightly coated with fluid. I was afraid it had a leak, so I wanted to take it by and let the Dealer Techs see what they thought. I emailed Crest to see when it was best to bring in, and they rang back to arrange an appointment. I dropped the CTS off this morning at 7:10 AM or so, my Service Writer met me at the car, recognized me and my problem from my email and our telecon, and checked the CTS in. Crest has an on-site rental car counter, and they fixed me up with a 2005 CTS loaner car while my car was being seen to. Off to my meetings by 7:30 am, so a good drop off, discuss, rental/loaner pickup. Crest called and reported that the differential is fine, but had been overfilled (at the factory?) and was venting fluid. They removed enough fluid to leave it full, and cleaned off the excess which had vented. I dropped off the rental, picked up my CTS, which had been washed, and was off. Again, time in and out was very reasonable. They did leave a buy back advertisement on the dash, but I'm happy with my 2005 for a while yet. Overall good news on the differential, although I'll try to continue to keep an eye on it, and a very good service experience with Crest. JasonA
They did leave a buy back advertisement on the dash, but I'm happy with my 2005 for a while yet. They offered to buy your car back because of a diff fluid leak?? I guess this is better than what Nissan's Mississippi plant is doing to many of their new trucks -- way UNDERfilling the rear axles. Bruce Nunnally
Oh no, not a lemon law buy back, just the normal "Hey, we need a ton of low mile cars so come and trade us yours" sort of advertisement. I would make more fun but it was this sort of ad that got me into the Dealer and resulted in my trading my 04 on an 05 model, so it is hard to say they don't work. JIMDTS
That's good to hear about a nice dealer experience. The dealer I frequent also has the on site car rental. Makes it nice to just hop in a rental when you need service. Many of the dealers own the rental car franchises they use so that way they are getting the rental fees and wind up getting some used cars out of the deal in the end. JasonA
The dealer by which I judge all dealers happens to be a Cadillac dealer in Radford, VA (Harvey GM). In general, I've really liked every Cadillac dealer I've ever visited. Jason(2001 STS, White Diamond) "When you turn your car on...does it return the favor?"
