Logan
At times...my Deville has the classic vibrations. Very common Deville issue. Feels like the wheels are not balanced... To me....it always felt like a PCM calibration issue or some system was not in sync with the rest of the car. Hmmmm... It could be my imagiation.....but to me.....most of the problem seems goes away if I 'force start' the car. That being I hold the key in the start mode for a second longer. Bad ignition switch? Anyway, since I had the 'new' column here. I replaced my ignition switch today with the new one that came on the column. Here is a pic of the old (125K) switch. Something is going on....notice the change in color of the grease. I guess we'll see how the car drives. davedog
I'm probably out of my league on this one but.... could the change in the color of the grease be a result of repeated holding they key in start mode for a second longer? Ranger
I also may be out of my league but I fail to see the relationship between an ignition switch and a vibration.

JimD
.... To me....it always felt like a PCM calibration issue or some system was not in sync with the rest of the car. Hmmmm... There have been times when I would agree 100% with the 'not in sync' idea, Logan. As an experiment with my '98 (early days of OBDII), I began pausing the ignition key at ON for a heartbeat before hitting START. And I swear I did notice a decrease in nuisance DTCs and false messages on the DIC such as SPEED LIMITED TO XX, TRACTION CONTROL DISABLED, as well as other similar messages. A GM employee who no longer visits here (no, not the GURU) mentioned one time that there were timing issues between the many modules that control various systems that could/might set false DTCs on occasion. Mostly U codes. My feeble mind concluded that if U codes might be set in error, why not the whole spectrum of codes? Not sure how the vibration issue fits in, however. Jim Drive your car. Logan
Vibration may not be the best word. Try: Chuggle. Looking closer at the switch. The contacts are plated copper. Maybe there are micro flakes created as the switch is used. Then these are turning green sort of like a penny would. Only problem is it would be like a penny in a blob of grease.
