SGT.ROCK
How would I take off the emblems on my STS without hurtin the paint? And where can I purchase some new emblems ? I would like to put the newer style emblems on my ride, I really like that little GM square emblem on the new cars. Maybe I should just PRY them off a newer Caddy.(Thats ajoke from another post) Thanks for your help.
ero1220
As for removing them, GM typically uses a double stick adhesive, getting the emblem off should not be too difficult. I guess you could shave it off if you made sure to keep a little buffer between the blade and the finish, but just be careful removing the adhesive from the vehicle surface (use a Goo-Gone type cleaner, make sure you know it's safe for the finish, because I am not sure. and obviously don't use an abrasive to rub the surface.) You can find a lot of emblems and the like on eBay, actually. I have purchased Seville and Cadillac script emblems, some crests, old style V badges and etc just by checking periodically on the site. I have been using a 3M emblem liquid adhesive that has done very well for me. You can find it at most auto parts stores. I'm sure you can find the right kid of doublestick, though (like GM uses) if you check around.
Ranger
Try warming it in the sun or with a hair drier and then use fishing line or tooth floss to "saw" it off. Lighter fluid won't hurt the paint but will soften the glue.
bigjayzway
!!!!!!!!USE A HEAT GUN!!!!!!! If you do not have one, then use a hair drier, and pry off with something plastic, and the glue can be removed with adhesive remover. Big Jay Life is too short to grow up! Ranger
Be VERY careful with a heat gun. You'll blister the paint before you know it.
lack34
Try wrapping a piece of cloth around the end of a flathead screwdriver a few times and gently lift it up the emblem one side at a time until it eventually becomes loose. From there you should be able to take it off by hand. It worked great for me, no damage was inficted to the paint or metal.
