STSJohn
I have a quick question, here goes I was just woundering when you manually switch gears during WOT at what RPM do you shift in to second? 2004 Cadillac CTS 3.6L VVT Light platinum 39K miles ~Vogue VTXi Package - Corsa Exhaust - K & N Cold air intake - Blacked out tints 2004 Cadillac Escalade 6.0L all-whell drive Pewter 42k miles ~22" Tis 07 Rims - E&G Chrome Vertyical billet Grill - Limo tints - Tv's in the Visor and headrests 1990 Mustang GT Painted Cadillac Diamond White - 604 Rwhp Family Cars: 2004 Cadillac XLR (Mom) 2005 Cadillac STS V8(Dad) 2000 Eldorado ETC (Brother)
speedyman_2
Ok this is a video of my car. You'll need to shift somewhere around 5900RPM. Maybe a tad bit sooner. When you put it into 2nd it's going to lag. You're not going to feel the shift as soon as you move the lever. If you do it too late it will shift like normal. Some people claim, and it has worked for me too, that you can just leave it in "2" and it will shift hard on it's own. Just get used to how the car shifts and you'll find the perfect timing. danbuc
AT WOT, manually shifting isn't going to do a anything. The reason for the lag when you upshift, is the car shift at 6200rpm just like it was programmed to do. When you manuall upshift into 2nd at WOT, it will continue to hold 1st gear until it sees 6200rpm and then it will shift to second. You can't force an upshift at WOT, since the car is programmed to shift by itself at that point. The only way you are going to manually upshift the car at 5900rpm, is to lift your foot off the gas while doing it. What all this means, is that if your looking for really fast acceleration, just leave it in 1st gear and floor it. The car will shift into the next gear when it needs to. edit: Firmer, harder shift are better for the transmission since it reduces slipping between the clutch packs when engaging the next gear. That hard slam into second though, does shock the rest of the drivetrain. Doing it every once and a while is not a problem, but I wouldn't recommend doing it at every light. MARK 99STS
I liked that last comment Scotty! Danbuc is right. No matter what you do or where you have the shifter, at WOT the computer will shift when it sees the need. Since I had the the exhaust side of the heads ported, I have noticed that my shift point has moved up from 6500 previously to 6700 now. I assumed it is because the heads are flowing better. Mine barks 2nd big time with BOTH wheels now that I have the LSD. Before the limited slip, I actually got the "traction engaged" message on the DIC a couple of times between 1st & 2nd shift. MARK 99STS
SGT. ROCK, I have run at Kil-Kare but I am going to Tristate or Edgewater the next time. I sent you an email about a week ago. Did you not get it? Send me your email address and I 'll let you know when and what track I'm going to. danbuc
Mark, what's the deal with the T/C disable mechanism that guy was building? Did he ever get all the parts he needed? I wanna buy one, and I'm too lazy to make it myself. Has he made much progress on it, or is he still working out the technical aspects of how it's going to work? Let us know when he get's that project finished. If he sells it on ebay or soemthing, I'll buy one.
MARK 99STS
Danbuc, I talked to him about 10 days ago and he is trying to find the right relays. He has a lot of irons in the fire right now so he is a little behind on his side projects. I will call him tomorrow. For now I am running with just the resistors in the wheel sensor plugs.
