This morning it was $299.9 I just seen on the News it may go to 4 bucks a gallon before it's over.. I hope not

Jim

I'm assuming you mean $2.99 9/10 per gallon.......$299.90 would REALLY be bad. I'd have to take out a 2nd mortgage just to drive to work!:lol::lol:

Hi Big Jay

You Canuks appear to have better gas. Last two times I filled up in Canada it was like getting an instant tune up the car never ran so good.. I did get higher mpg and you didn't even know when the car was at idle Hcek one time I thought it stalled out while sitting at a traffic light it was so smooth at idle. Better inspection of the gas I guess..

Excuse us while we spend a few months ignoring the rest of the globe trying to salvage some lives along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Not one of the Katrina survivors will complain about US$3.00 or $4.00 per US gallon of gasoline.

I filled up this morning in anticipation of rising gas prices, prices at the pump in Houston were:

Regular: $ 2.40

Mid: $ 2.50

Premium: $ 2.60

Of course, I got a 10 cent discount with my Kroger card, which they published it stops tomorrow, the last day in August. Name brands are running about $ .15 higher.

Gas went up this morning in Ontario by .20cents a litre, which is like .90c per gallon.

Critics say that there is at least 1 month supply of gas in the pipeline, and this instant increase is a crash grab by the oil industry.

The oil industry says that the problem lies in refineries being at 90% capacity before the hurricane, and there is now insufficient capacity of refined gas to serve the industry, which is why gas has gone up and oil prices have remained steady.

I agree with JimD ... I count my blessings and feel for the victims families in the lower states .... but the point of this post is that it would seem that the oil billionaires are profiting from a natural disaster.

Monday morning it was $2.89US/gallon/hi-test near my home. Tuesday morning it was $3.09US/gallon/hi-test near my home when I left for work. Tuesday evening it was $3.39US/gallon/hi-test when I arrived home from work. Happily, Wednesday, after work, it was down to $3.19US/gallon/hi-test at that same filling station.

Too late. I'd filled up at work at $3.19, uncertain what it would be when I got home. EDIT: It was $3.89US/gallon/hi-test near work at one place

Later in the evening I heard myself on the phone speak a phrase I thought I'd never hear myself utter (outside of Europe), "No, I DIDN"T fill up, I ONLY got $50 worth."

OIY!

There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises
