Idling laws!

These are 4 units that were in town handing out idling tickets to everyone idling their cars, and trucks one night when it was really hot, and muggy.

Funny, when they went on their coffee break, they all left their cars running, so the air would keep their cars cold....They were in there for over 2 hours!

There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises

Gas is over a buck a litre, and income tax freedom day is sometime in July ... work for 6 months just to pay your taxes .... good example of waste. Send your pic to the Hamilton Spectator, but they wouldn't run it.

I bet the officers were comp'd free coffee as well <_<

(handing out idling tickets to everyone idling their cars)

What's that a new Law ?

Fuel Conservation or something ?

And the general public is the only one's having to obay that rule ?

How could they possibly justify letting there's run for two hour's ?

It's been my experince that Most Cop's don't observe the laws

that concern the general public ,such as speeding thru' town & running lights and stop sign's & etc.....when there isn't an emergency, they're just

looking for lunch or coffee ....LOL Donut's maybe !!!!!

What's a that ?

It's do what I say , Not what I do !!

They are all given free coffee at this location. I know several of the employees, and when they are hired, they are told..."All uniformed Police Officers recieve coffee, at no cost"

They have to pay for all other items, but the coffee is free!

You might want to check with your local laws, cause a lot of regions have this now!

Jay, you did take down all their plate numbers and report them, right?
Why bother in this area? They are so corrupt here it isn't even funny!

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. A coworker once wrote a letter to the governor of North Carolina after seeing police officer cut through a parking lot to skip a stop light. He received a hand-signed letter back stating that the officer would be reprimanded and wouldn't happen again.

If you let the right person know, something will be done about it.

We need to send this to Fox News, for the "Around the world in 90 seconds". I'll bet they'd run it. Or, John Stossel at ABC 20/20 in the "Gimme a Break!".

It's worth a try...Imagine the look on the chief's face...

Where I live, you'd receive MANY hand-signed documents. NONE would be from the Governor, however.

Or how about this??? :lol::lol::lol:

If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.

Should have made a citizens arrest!  Up against the wall, spread eagle, cuff yourself!  You know they are above the law!  Let you do it however....

Get some bananas and stick them into the tailpipes of those police cars. They won't idle for long....LOL ;)

Just kidding!!! LOL!!

Just kidding. In fact, don't do it. I believe it's very illegal to disable a police vehicle.

It is very frustrating when you see how cops behave as if the laws don't apply to them. It's a kick in the teeth for ALL taxpayers, that's for sure. <_>

A law against letting your car idle? Don't police agencies have better things to do???

I believe the law is enforced my municipal bylaw officers, and its used to discourage pollution during smog alerts, especially in heatwaves.

I was in town when they were doing this, so they are the ones handing out violations as well as the by-law. Out here we have one by-law officer, and he does 7 different counties.

Here is a funny pic I found too!

Here in NYC.. cops do WHATEVER they want, and I couldn't stress the whatever enough. Just last week I saw one go past me on the wrong side of traffic and blaze thru a red light just to stop up the block at a pizza store.

Ya I believe it. They do the same here for COFFEE!

The personal radios are tied into the units radio via repeater (In the trunk) and in order to be in touch with base, and have power to start the car, they need to idle it. It's the truth. When they key the mic, the hand held radio only transmits to the car, and the repeater in the trunk uses that car radio (much more powerful and better antenna and range) to actually send the signal. Depending on the system, 1 car might have done all 4 radios, But maybe they have an old system. or a radio specific system (Sorta like caller ID)

Anyhow, when you are the law, who enforces the law? I never worry about me.

Actually, this is not true, if they switch their hand helds.

You are partially right, but the vehilcle does not need to be running.....I know this for a fact

I am an ex K-9 officer, when I was younger, my cruiser had a trunken system. They are so low in power to recieve and transmit.

I was not on the local Police force, we were an outside company that was dispatched, and contracted. (in otherwords, we worked for a living)

Who knows, they could have been answering a call of assistance at that pizza joint. You never know what the situation is. I've passed judgement on a lot of "bad drivers" before, only to recognize that I was pretty liberal with the law myself when we were headed to the hospital to birth our daughter.

I think life is too short to dwell on these things. If your local area is too corrupt or passive to reprimand an officer for misbehaving on the job, you gotta just leave it at that and move on.

Police officers are way too often grouped in a stereotype as a bunch of lazy coffee-drinking doughnut-eaters. If members of your family were law enforcement officers, the vast majority of which take their roles in society very seriously, then your opinions might be different. One bad apple ruins the reputation of the whole bunch. We know that well here. Afterall, all Northstars are faulty because a select few have had head bolt problems...right??? Wrong, of course. Just like it seems that "everyone" has seen bad police officers before, therefore, they must ALL be like that, right??? Wrong, of course.

I know very well the world of private contracting in a sea of civil servants. I'm a government contractor at Fort Bragg, NC. I know the stereotype, that all government employees are worthless oxygen theives, but I've found that in most cases, those stereotypes and rumors are perpetrated by those who really don't have a clue and pass on bad information from others who are misinformed.
