I replaced tensioner, idler wheel, ac compressor, belt, water pump belt, water pump tensioner, its quiet now.... Noises are the most difficult things to diagnose here. Oldgamer
If your alternator has shorted diod or short somewere in one of the coil it can make this sound. And low voltage confirms that.
Oldgamer
But from other side, you saying that noise disappears when transaxle not in a P or N? That doesn't look related to the alternator... more like transmission... I remember that manual diagnostic has different conclusions based on when noise happened in P/N position or just opposit. sal.carceller@cox.net
Disconnect altenator cables/wires at the alternator, allow to run on battery only, see if that has any effect. This will set computer codes and you will need to know how to re-set them after. Doing this procedure will remove load from the alternator and most likely stop any alternator whine. Or - another less invasive test would be to drive load up on the alternator by turning on all lights, Heater on high (Not AC) and any other elecrical options you can think of. If the alternator whines because it is failing this should make the whine worse or at least change the whine sound. If doing one of the 2 above (removing or adding load to the alternator) does not change/affect the whine most likely the alternator is not the cause of the whine. However, anything below 13 volts at the battery with engine running I would investigate. If you are not extremly handy or just don't have the time to diagnose take the car to say Sears and have them do a battery check. The test will reveal a bad battery as well as a failed alternator. As I said I suspect you have a alternator problem if your voltage is that low. But of course the whine might not be related to the alternator problem which means you may have more than one issue. Bye the way running the alternator disconnected is no worse than having the serpentine belt break. It's not recommended to run your Caddi with the alternator disconnected but the car is designed to handle this type of failure no damage should occur. I suggest you try increasing the load on the alternator first. good luck.
Oldgamer
If problem with alternator is a short diod or short in the coil, disconnecting the cables of alternator will not stop the sound from alternator unfortunately, because the short location is INSIDE of alternator, not outside. If short/overload is outside of alternator (alternator is Ok actually), alternator will not make a sound anyway.

Scotty
Park to neutral or Park to DRIVE? There should be no difference between Park and Neutral, EXCEPT that sometimes the parking pawl can transmit a very faint hum/harmonic, is that what you mean? See what I mean about trying to diagnose a noise in this medium? Someone recently posted a link to an MP3 that they made of the sound... a good idea if you can make a clear recording of it...
