Driver door lock doesn't work, with neither the

Hi Everybody! :) I have a small problem w/ my '94 DeVille...my driver door power lock was working intermittently at first and now not at all. Using both the remote and the power lock switches, it's dead. It can only be locked and unlocked manually. Also, after turning the ignition off, the radio doesn't turn off and the power antenna doesn't lower automatically upon opening the driver door like it used to, unless I open the front passenger door. I imagine there's a doowicky (solenoid or maybe loose wire?) inside the the door that's gone bad, haven't yet taken the door panel off to see. Is this a common problem? What particular parts inside the door do you think could be the culprit? Could both problems be caused by the same part? And lastly, what does the part look like? Thank You! BTW, I've really missed you guys!

p.s. I did a search and looked through 16 pages of past post and didn't run across anyone else having this problem. :(

Sounds to me like it could be a fuse? Did the antenna and locks go out at the sametime? I believe on my 94 sts I have a fuse for the antenna in the fuse cluster located in the trunk. Not sure what other accessory is attached to the same fuse. Of course this may not apply to you DeVille.

I believe they did...both go out at the same time. I'm pretty sure I looked at all the fuses when I was diagnosing my blower motor not working...that's another story  and problem. A fuse wouldn't control just one door would it? Opening the passenger door will still turn off the radio and lower the antenna.

Do the rest of the switches on the drivers door still work, windows, mirrors ect...?

Do the interior lights come on when the drivers door is opened, and does the chime sound if you leave the keys in the ignition with the drivers door open??

Yes, all the other switches on the driver door work. My interior lights do NOT come on though when the driver door is opened, and I no longer hear the "forgot your keys" chime. At first I thought it was a bad lock actuator, but I'm beginning to think it's a bad connection in the door somewhere. Where is the switch located that senses the door is open and what might that be called? Thanks!

Two parts...

One, the lights and chime went out for me too a while back. It turned out the controller mounted to the back of the rear seat came loose. It was a square box about an inch by an inch. Just re-secured the clip and all is well

Two, My passenger side front door lock does not work either. I pulled the door panel off and found that it was binding up by the lock. I sprayed the "pivot arm" with wd40 and it worked for about a day. then it stopped. Someone said a while back that there is a nylon bushing or retaining clip that hold these two rods together and that is the culprit. I am trying to find the part # to order and replace.

I'll let you know more when I change it out. Mike D

Thanks Mike!

Do you know what that controller is called and where it might be located on my DeVille?

I will take my panel off as well and see if I can find out what the problem is. My lock was working intermittently at first, then gave out completely. I think the light and chime gave out at the same time, leading me to beleive it's all related...not sure though. Please let me know what you find out.

The driver & passenger door lock switches, as well as the remote, will lock and unlock all the doors except the driver door lock.

Maybe a linkage rod became disengaged from the actuator or the actuator itself is bad. The actuator is part of the door latch - fastened to the door with three large torx screws.

I plan to take the panel off here soon and report my findings. In regards to the light and chime not working, is there some type of switch (magnet or ?) inside the door that detects if the door is closed or open that may be giving me problems? Do you know where that controller is Mike D was referring to?

Whatever happened to the old button you could put your foot on to turn the interior lights off? smile.gif
