JasonA
Of all those wheels, I like the ones labeled "Optional 17s" the most...probably because it's a Cadillac wheel. speedyman_2
I'd go with the 17" OEM wheels. I've been thinking about getting them for my '98 STS too. Oh, and calling rims, "shoes"
Willie Hank
Recommending wheels for someone is kind of tough if you don't know their tastes and what they are look'in for in a style... Personally, those 18" chromed-out aluminum rims would look 'sporty', especially if you increased your tire width. But it will be 'visually loud' as well. You might want to compare the cost of rubber between 16", 17" and 18" (the price will go up) I had 17" chromed-out aluminum Neeper Mynx rims on my STS (P245/50R17), and really liked the look, I got a lot of compliments, mostly from kids..., and one 'old man'.... Those are the 4 out of the 100's i seen that i like so thats why i listed them, i am just looking for some opinions, my 2000 STS has the optional 17's and i like them alot, I have seen 20's of the "Casino" Wheel on a STS but i will limit myself to 17's/18's. Which 18's the Casino or DAat? As for prices go: The 17" optional STS Wheels are less then $1000 on ebay The 17" Vogue "Rio" Wheels are $2250 The 18" American Racing Casino wheels are $750 The 18" Daat D65 Wheels are $860 I Just added another Wheel: Gitano G7 18's $720 The Tires the i Will Choose from are: Michelin MVX4 Energy Plus XSE 235/55R17 $600.00set Pirelli Scorpion STR 235/55R17 $460.00set Pirelli Scorion STR 235/50R18 $480set (on sale) I have to look for more 18" tires but from what i seen they range from 138-269each when i make my mind up i will look on ebay for some tires 2004 Cadillac CTS 3.6L VVT Light platinum 39K miles ~Vogue VTXi Package - Corsa Exhaust - K & N Cold air intake - Blacked out tints 2004 Cadillac Escalade 6.0L all-whell drive Pewter 42k miles ~22" Tis 07 Rims - E&G Chrome Vertyical billet Grill - Limo tints - Tv's in the Visor and headrests 1990 Mustang GT Painted Cadillac Diamond White - 604 Rwhp Family Cars: 2004 Cadillac XLR (Mom) 2005 Cadillac STS V8(Dad) 2000 Eldorado ETC (Brother)
DTS_driver
Have you considerd 20inch wheels maybe? Im about to throw a set of 22's on my DTS with a 255/30/22 size tire.
ero1220
Calling wheels "shoes?" hmm.. Wheels are "rims" and tires are "shoes." The term comes from the comparison of tires to rubber soles on sneakers. Anyway I am also a fan of the OEM 17" but I think that those AR 18" wheels would look nice as well. Willie Hank
I really like both the DAAT's and the Gitano,...they are both really 'open', and would look bad-*smurf* with some cross-drilled rotors, and possibly painting the calipers a color to suit your body. One thing to consider, some of the wheels are limited to finite choices of offset, I believe my '93 STS OEM rims had a 1.75" offset and the closest I could find was 42mm. You don't want to vary it much if you are considering a wider tire, or scrubbing could be an issue on sharp turns.
JasonA
The Tires the i Will Choose from are: Michelin MVX4 Energy Plus XSE 235/55R17 $600.00set Pirelli Scorpion STR 235/55R17 $460.00set Pirelli Scorion STR 235/50R18 $480set (on sale) I have to look for more 18" tires but from what i seen they range from 138-269each Interesting selection of possible tires. I'm not familiar with the Pirellis, but the Michelins you're looking at (the Energy MXV4s) are very much a "touring" tire. A quality one at that, but not at the top of the performance spectrum. I suspect a set of Michelin Pilot A/S tires or even Pilot XGT V4/Z4 tires may be more inline with what the Pirellis would offer in terms of performance...but they'd still be more expensive, the Michelins. Just a thought. Jason(2001 STS, White Diamond) "When you turn your car on...does it return the favor?"

Jeff Wilson
I have the optional 17's and Michelin Energy Plus on my Cadillac they look good together. I am happy with the overall look. If I am not mistaken the Optional 17's that you refer to are from a 2003 STS.

ACTUALLY, In Rap slang Shoes mean Rims not Tires, And as for the comparison of tires to sneakers you are also wrong there to, Ever Since the early 1990's Rims has been the subject of most rap songs. over the years Rims has taking slang names as “twinkies,” “blades,” “shoes” and “sneakers.” and the newest thing is for kids with 23's they refer to them as j's (Micheal jordan #23). Jadcock: I Put The Michelin MXV4's as one of my main choices becuase i currently have them on my 98 with 16's + the pirellis are listed becuase the is what i put on my 2000 STS which has the OEM 17's that i bought in january DTSdriver: I Considered putting 20's on but i dont want to go to far with the rims (My friend in BKLYN has 22's on his 99 STS) well Anyway i narrowed it down to 3 choices now: American racin 18's, OEM 17's (Most likey i will buy these), and the Daat D65 18's 2004 Cadillac CTS 3.6L VVT Light platinum 39K miles ~Vogue VTXi Package - Corsa Exhaust - K & N Cold air intake - Blacked out tints 2004 Cadillac Escalade 6.0L all-whell drive Pewter 42k miles ~22" Tis 07 Rims - E&G Chrome Vertyical billet Grill - Limo tints - Tv's in the Visor and headrests 1990 Mustang GT Painted Cadillac Diamond White - 604 Rwhp Family Cars: 2004 Cadillac XLR (Mom) 2005 Cadillac STS V8(Dad) 2000 Eldorado ETC (Brother)
ero1220
I don't think we need to discuss the finer points of rap culture slang and how different parts of the nation interpret it... I've always known "shoes" to be tires exclusively and seperate from rims. So who knows, right?

I Do not Want to discuss Rap Culture as I could careless about rap and everything around it, anyway calling tires Shoes would make much more sense then calling rims shoes, But Since when does Slang make sense? Lol.
