Arash
Dear all members I need some help finding a good used engine for my 94 STS. I've alredy tried a used 94STS with 100,000km but it had a cracked upper block and I had to return it. The original engine had main bearing problem at 154,000km and is not worth repairing anymore. I've alredy tried the www.car-part.com. If anybody knows a reputable Auto wreckage which sells Northstar motors please give me their number. I also need to know which model year engines will fit my 94 STS. Can I use a SLS engine? I think 93/94/95 engines are pretty similar. Thanks in advance for all the help. Scotty
If I can find one for you, do you want to pay for shipping? I am going to my favorite salvage yard tomorrow if you want I will look to see if they have a good one, they are very fastidious about mileage, condition, hearing it run, etc.. Mike The have helped us a couple of times already with 4.9's
CaddyChris
I have the old one out of my 94 with a bad headgasket and 230k sitting in the garage. The engine ran like a top with no problems until the headgasket went. Probably wouldn't have to do anything to it(except headgasket and time certing), it does have alot of miles though. Probably not worth shipping all the way up there. But it's here in PA if you are interested. Christopher Petro 94 sts 67 coupe de Ville
67coupedeville
Only a 1994 STS (VIN Code 9) engine will work in your car. The blocks are all the same but the computer will not match up and it will not work trying to put a 93 or a 95 motor into your 94 car. Same goes for the SLS engine (VIN Code Y). An engine will work in your car out of a 1994 Eldorado Touring Coupe, but again it has to be a Touring Coupe (Code 9). I hope I have the codes for the engines right, if not someone else will more than likely correct me . Hope this helps. Spence

Arash
Thanks very much for all the replies. I got a quote for a total rebuilt of my engine for 3200 CAD with one year 20,000 km warranty. It sounds high to me since the car is not worth more than 6000CAD. I think buying a used engine from an slavage yard will be the only option for me. Scotty, would you please get me a quote for an engine with less than 120,000 miles on it and a quote for shipping to Vancouver. I would pay for the shipping if the engine price is reasonable. Scotty
Ill see what I can dig up, the complicating factor here is that you need an STS engine for a specific year.. I will see what I can find, I need to pick up a couple of miscellaneous parts tomorrow so I will let you know if I find anything Shipping to Amsterdam was about $500 for a 4.9, I am sure it will be less, we will probably need a plastic pallet, but we can worry about that if he has your engine.. will advise
Fast95SLS
You should try using Greenleaf Auto Recyclers. The toll free number is 800-942-7278 and the local number is 770-267-5965. They cell used parts and offer a lifetime part and labor warranty using Mitchell labor guides. I bought an used transmission from them with 80,000 miles with this warranty for $799 a year ago. I have since put 25,000 miles on it without any problems. The transmission would have cost $500 without the warranty. The company is located in Monroe, SC. I hope this helps.
