Freakin Punks, kinda off topic

B) So, im drivin down a dark country road , from my house, on my way to get a coffee tonight around 9:30pm. As I am about to meet an oncoming car, BANG, something hard and heavy hit my door, nearly causing me to go into the 4 foot ditch. Realising that someone from the car that just passed threw it, rage came over me and i turned around as fast as i could.

Hitting the throttle on my 96 STS I quickly accellerated to 140km\hr, stupid thing to do, I know, and started to chase the car. Stupid kids, trying to outrun me in their moms Ford Taurus, They decided to lead me all over the countryside trying to outrun me. Now i know what your thinking, im as stupid as they are for chasing them at these high speeds, so i backed way off, just so i could see their tail lights and see where they went. Finally after about 20 mins , they pulled into a house where one of them lived.

Man, ou should have seen the looks on their faces when i pulled in behind them, 6' tall 240# shaved head driving the caddy that just chased them. I think the one kid wet his pants when i jumped out of the car. So i get the drivers address and decide not to waste my time with them, but to go see their mom, afterall it was her car they were beatin on. The two brothers, 15 and 17, pulled in their driveway ten minutes after i did and were both ballin their eyes out as soon as they saw my car at their house. Mom was none to pleased, took away the kids drivers license and snapped it in half right there on the spot, i couldnt believe it. I left after briefly rippin them a new a-hole, and told their mom that since she snapped the kids D.L. in half and there was no damage, I wouldnt call the police.

Still dont know what it was they threw, but man, scared the hell outta me.

Just had to vent my frustrations to someone, and hey, your all here! ;)

Matt

A woman was killed by kids who hurled a frozen turkey though her car window, hitting the woman in the face. Imagine being hit in the face by what amounts to being a 10+ pound chunk of ice.

Even if there was no damage to the car, I would have called the cops and reported them. Little bast*rds will no doubt do it again someday, maybe this time, killing someone.

If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.

I dunno, from the story you described, I think they learned their lesson....(give them a break,..they're young and stup, ..., I mean, a little smarter now....)

That is, if there is no damage to your car...

Matt,

I'd guess the biggest question around here is, "Any damage to your vehicle?"

Something similar happened to me about twenty or so years ago. It was during a period of racial distress. Although "everyone" knew "who did it." the cops made it plain to me that they'd simply like me to go away. It was a $100 repair at the time, probably worth maybe $400 today. I bit the bullit. Went home.

Back in the '70s, I was pulled over as a bank robbery suspect in Garden City, NY. Me and my vehicle matched the description of the "perp" almost exactly, nea precisely! Guns drawn etc. Oh boy! My registration was expired by a few days. After the cops "perp walked" me in front of the witnesses, I was left free to go.

When I asked the cop about my expired registration, he said something like, "You've been through enough, just get it fixed tomorrow!" I DID! Sometimes forgiveness isn't painful. Can be helpful.

The point that I'm roundaboutly driving towards if this: if the kids aren't dirtbags, "Moms" punishment will likely outweigh the cops punishment by an order of magnitude. And you'll have no further need to escalate the situation.

If, on the other hand, they are unremorseful, simply go for their collective jugulars!

Regards,

Warren

Matt, all this for a cup of Tim Horton's double double?

That's my favourite excuse to drive either the STS or the 71 Cutlass convertible ... the Accord is used for basic point A to B, while the other two cars beg to be driven .... usually to Tim Horton's :D

Almost right, its a 3 milk 3 sugar, but Tim Hortons all the way.

So i went out and looked at the car today and sure enough, big thick scratch on the drivers door under the mirror. Went and took some pictures and got an estimate for just over $400.00.

Needless to say i will be going back to speak with mom and dad tonight to see what they want to do. The did say they would pay for any damage if i diddnt involve the police, we'll see if the story is the same tonight.

Keep you all posted,

Somebody mention Tim Horton's??? :D I love that place, but I usually look like this when I leave  because I ate too much! Just about kinked my colon the last time I was in Saskatchewan. Too bad we don't have them here in the states!

I can't believe I'm saying this, but if they are willing to pay for any damage, don't involve the police. I did a couple of stupid things as a teenager I'm not proud of, and my parents did a lot worse to me than a fine and a record would. The thing about it is, once you mature, the treatment towards you can change. But a record is forever. Jim

I would give them a break, I think they learned. We have all done stupid things as youngsters.

????????????Give them a break???????????

Who the kids or the parents?

I would make them PAY!

If I know Matt, and I do cause we have been best friends for years, he will get the parents to pay, and not bother with the cops.

But if you are implying to give the parents a break, you have to be out of your mind!

Why should Matt be responsible for the damages?

we, heres what seems to be the final chapter.

I got a call from the mother today, she was nice at first, then started yelling and screaming at me that i was trying to bilk them out of $400.00. She told me that there was no way her sons could have done the damage, no matter what they threw, and said that she was an insurance agent, and was going to charge ME with insurance fraud, if i went to my insurance company.

After i hung up on her i called the cops, who seemed helpful at first. Then when i met with the officer who was to take the report, he told me that since i diddnt notice the damage that night, 11:00pm pitch black out, they could not do anything. They couldn't prove that the damage was caused by these kids, and not something in my driveway overnight. They told me i was wasting my time, and , off the record, that " I should have beat the crap out of the kids when i caught them, at least i would have gotten a little justice", thats what the cop said.

So now im stuck paying for this damage myself, because my deductible is $500.00, and it will cost $400 and change to get it fixed. What a wonderful world we live in eh, i think im gonna go out and damage THEIR car tonight, i know i'll walk away scott free!

Wow...

Terribly sorry to hear that, but like a previous member said you should not have left the parents get off so easy.

If it makes you feel any less furious, your experience is a life lesson for me. As I was reading through the posts I was agreeing with everyone and even though I have only been a non-teenager for 2 years I would never do something ignorant like that, but I was feeling for them and everything seemed like it would be taken care of. But, I guess now we all see where the kids get it from. I'm not blaming the parents, but with a certain lack of discipline or obligation comes what we just observed.

Now I know to first and foremost ensure that my personal property is 100% taken care off before I start feeling sympathy or get shafted.

Best of Luck

Oh! and we have the same car :D Sofie!

I can't believe it,...what a bunch of JERKS!!!!!

I take back what I said about giving them another chance, with a mother like that, they'll be up to more 'no good'....

I still think you should call their insurance carrier, just because you don't have a police report does not mean you can't file a claim....

I learned a similar lesson when my wife hit a 15yr old on a 3-wheeler. He went through a blind intersection without stopping. My wife caught him dead center and rolled him off the hood. She was not going very fast and all he ended up with was a broken leg. He had no insurance, no licenes, riding on a county road. The police said he could write tickets all day on this boy but, I told the father that I would not press charges if he agreed to pay for our car. The police said I had 1 year to decide to press charges or not. I had the car fixed and the bodyshop sent the bill to the family. Then the mother wanted me to sign a release form releasing them from further responsibility. Something smelled fishy, so I called the bodyshop to see if they had paid the bill. He said they worked out a payment plan, but if they did not pay for it that it would be my responsibility to pay. So I called the mother back and told her I would not sign anything until the car was paid for. Then my wife gets a call from our insurance company and the Mother of the boy filed a claim against our insurance to pay for the boys medical bills. Our adjuster told us that because we did not have charges brought up against the boy, we would have to prove that it was not my wifes fault. Well I called the mother and informed her I was going to press charges against her son if the claim was not dropped. Well car got paid for and insurance claim dropped. I never heard any more from them.

Moral of the story is to call the Police immediatly, file a report, have the police write 1 ticket so blame is established and have peace of mind.

Moral of this (and any similar) story..call the cops, press charges if necessary. Unless I knew them really REALLY well, even if they were my neighbors I would just say, "Look don’t take this personally, it’s only business".

Nice guys usually finish last in these types of scenarios.

And, as George Hayduke has been saying for sometime, if you come up short, “Don’t get mad, get even!”;)
