acecadillac
I havn't been to the site for a while as my wife has been driving the STS. I have been playing with a Japanese rocket Civic and a Mustang 5.0. I am now excited to be back to the STS. I have ordered New Struts and shocks from StrutMaster and the Eibach Pro series springs. Well I just finished removing my two rear shocks. What a pain. I had to cut the top of the nut off with a grinder. Was there a better way? Anyway, I noticed that my floating bushing in the rear spindles are worn. What is the cheapest place to get these?
Regis
ace, Those are pressed bushings in the knuckles and to date no one has been able to replace just the bushings. Here is another discussion regarding those darn knuckles: http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?sho...5889&hl=knuckle It's hard to get around that $300 (approx.) price tag. But if it makes you feel any better the dealer will be happy to charge you more. The control (both upper and lower) arm bushings aren't sold seperately either but they don't seem to pose much of a challenge to a good/creative fabricator. Those knuckle bushings are long and skinny and take on a great deal of pressure but if you figure some working alternative then please make sure to share it with the rest us. Here are some popular GM parts sites: http://www.gmotors.com/ Here you will probably pay a little more but you get prompt customer service as well as the advantage of talking to a real person. http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/ Probably a little cheaper. A good site when you know eactly what you need and part number. However not the easiest place to deal with if problems arrise. http://www.gmpartsdepot.com/ Haven't tried this site yet. One of the members posted it and might be worth a look. acecadillac
Hi kger2, I have a spare pair from the auto wreckers. The bottom bushings on mine and the used versions are okay. I removed the boot wire and found an inner metal clip. I thought I was in luck. The clip doesn't appear to do anything! I could see what side the bushing was originally pressed in. I tried to tap it out. No luck. I am thinking of heating now and try press it out in a vice. Did Caddy Pete have the right part number with his quoted price of $98.52? Regis
Nah unfortunately he had the incorrect part or part number. Can't remember which. Like i said the rear knuckles should run about $300 each. You can shoot www.gmotors.com an e-mail (just fill out their Request Form) and they'll reply with the part number and cost or just give them a call. Real nice guys.
