JasonA
I had problems with some tires Sears installed on our Grand Caravan last January. We've been back three separate times since then to have the tires rebalanced. A vibration persisted. I had a Hunter GSP9700 road force balance done today and it indicated that one of the rear tires was giving 22 pounds of force...too much. I took the van back to Sears for a tire replacement, and they even gave me $65 in cash from the register to cover the cost of the out-of-pocket road force balance I had done at another tire shop. The problem is now solved, and I wanted to commend Sears on their superior customer service in this situation. I still probably won't buy new tires from them again, just because they could never balance these correctly. Even on the three that didn't have excessive force, the guy at the local tire shop said that none of them were in balance. So I may not go back to this local Sears, but I wanted to comment on their great job retaining a customer of their other products (like tools and household goods, etc). chevyorange
Hey, you know what, for Sears, that is pretty darn stand up in my opinion. Kudos for reporting a deed done right! Adam
JohnnyG
Happy to help. Coincidentally, I had 4 done on my 2004 Silverado today. One measured 43 lbs. road force on the Hunter 9700! A simple matched remount lowered it to 10 lbs. Problem solved. Thankfully I didn't need to go back to GM or Goodyear to ask for a new tire (OEM), or even $43.00 (the cost of the balance/remount). I know they would not have been as accomodating as Sears! Speaks volumes I think! Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed.
JasonA
I've always had good luck with Sears Auto Centers. I've only bought tires there before, but we've had no problems. The last TWO sets of Michelins we bought there, and never had to touch the balance on them ever. For some reason, my local store tried FOUR times to balance the tires on the van unsuccessfully. So I probably won't go back there for tires again, but for that reason alone; I'm glad to know their desire to retain me as a customer is strong. And I'll continue to shop there for tools and power equipment as I have in the past...until I have a bad experience I guess.
