TDK
Well Folks, Regarding Bruce's comment about the "...maxi-midsize..." referring to the 2006 Deville. This got me thinking (along with a couple smooth margaritas) My neighbor told me to hang on to my '94 Deville Concours because the 2000+ ones are a lot smaller inside. He had a '96 or '97 Deville and got a 01 Deville and then traded it for what he calls a larger Lincoln Town Car. Maybe it is larger... I tried out my friend's new 2005 Deville and it does seem tighter even with the front seat all the way back. Sheesh! Should I go for a pre 2000 body style or what? So what do you think? Do the newer Caddy's seem smaller inside? What about the outside? Easier to park (or just give it to the valet)? Who wants to list the specs, and how are these measured anyhow? As in what's the standard here? What's your opinion? Add power to leave problems behind. Most braking is just - poor planning.
jock82
I have a 1994 Concours and we rented a new de Ville for a trip to New Mexico and it seemed smaller on the inside than my 94.

ROBHWAL
That comparison was great. Can any one do the same for the new STS compared to the older sts. I drove a new 2006 sts and it was a lot smaller inside than my 2001. I didn't care for it at all THANKS robhwal

TDK
STSJohn, Thanks for the great comparisons. However folks, Why do all the respondents think the newer Caddy's are smaller? Is it that we are getting bigger ? Does anyone have a clue as to why they seem smaller, but they are about the same or even larger in most measurements? Even I have to admit that this poll does not seems to make much sense, but it is still interesting in any case Thanks again Add power to leave problems behind. Most braking is just - poor planning. Could it be the new design makes the car seem smaller. I Dont know about any of you guys but i wish they would have kept at least one of the caddys in pre-retro form 2004 Cadillac CTS 3.6L VVT Light platinum 39K miles ~Vogue VTXi Package - Corsa Exhaust - K & N Cold air intake - Blacked out tints 2004 Cadillac Escalade 6.0L all-whell drive Pewter 42k miles ~22" Tis 07 Rims - E&G Chrome Vertyical billet Grill - Limo tints - Tv's in the Visor and headrests 1990 Mustang GT Painted Cadillac Diamond White - 604 Rwhp Family Cars: 2004 Cadillac XLR (Mom) 2005 Cadillac STS V8(Dad) 2000 Eldorado ETC (Brother)
PAUL T
I think there ought to be a shoulder width dimension. I bet if you measure from door to door it would be smaller.
JimD
I like the shoulder width measurement. And I measured two vehicles; '98 Seville and '04 Deville. Measured inside dimension, door post to door post, level with the top of the window opening and level with the bottom of the window opening. Deville top = 46" and bottom = 55.5" Seville top = 43.5" and bottom = 55" Need a CTS or '05 STS owner to do the same. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE ! RonWa
The spec's don't tell the whole story. I'm 6'6" tall and a Big Boy... My right knee is jambed into the bulge in the dash where its meets the console on the 2000-2005 DTS, I haven't tried an '06. My '97 Concours fit much better. Marika
While the overall wheel base length has increased, the body length has become shorter. If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.
gc_caddy
I noticed a similar size change from 1994 to newer models. A lot has to do with the interior design. The center console on post-1994s juts out a lot more from the dash. There also seems to be thicker A pillars. Also on the latest models, Cadillac is following the trend (sorry, but true) on designing their cars with smaller (i.e. shorter) side windows. These smaller side windows let in a lot less light, making the car seem smaller. I don't like it.
