winterset
Hello all - I disconnected my battery several months ago, and recently purchased a new one. I cleaned the green off the terminals with battery cleaner I purchased from pep boys, and I plan on greasing the contacts with dielectric grease. It's a 1996 Deville. I can't figure out which way that 'removable' red plastic insulator go's - the one that has that lonely wire in it. -THANKS
navion
The red connector with the heaviest wire or cable goes next to the battery. Then there should be a lead spacer that goes between the heavy cable end and the lighter cable end. This spacer is held in place by the red plastic cover on the end of the cable. Then the bolt is inserted through all of them and into the positive connection on the battery. Always hook the positive cables up first and unhook them last. That lessens the chance for some embarrassing sparks! Good Luck, Britt Britt
