What's Happened to Chrvrolet?

Aside from the Corvette, is Chevy still making any cars of interest?

I just drove by the local Chevrolet dealer and all they had out front were what looked like warmed over Korean mini-cars. What gives? :(

That's the style today. The more bland, the better the status symbol. Just take a look at any Lexus or Toyota Camry and you'll see that they look like upside down bath tubs fitted with lights and wheels. Personally, I don't care for that kind of look so I'll just keep driving my Cadillac which I think has more class than just about anything else out there. And eventhough my car is 17 years old, it really stands out and I still get lots of positive comments. They are even more surprised when I tell them how many miles I have on the car. Most Californians drive Japanese cars and many have been led to believe that American cars are junk and won't last very much more than 80k miles.

American car makers are trying to dip into that Japanese market. American car sales have been slumping, for many reasons. Personally, I don't like any of the modern "every day" styles of cars (excluding high end Bentley, Ferrari, etc.). They look like crap, and I wish there could be a change in the design of cars today. It almost seems like theres no hope...

:( <--- That is all I do when I got to the Chevy Dealer now.

 <--- I use to do that back in 1993 when they had a Camaro Z28 convertable parked next to a Oldsmobile Cutless Supreme International, and countless other good looking cars. Today you couldn't give me an Alero/Grand Am, or a Cobalt/Presuit. The Fast and The Furious days are over as far as I'm concerned and everything that some people use to think was "cool" is really starting to die quick. When I see a commercial for a 300C and then see a commercial for a Malibu Maxx, which do you think is going to bring me in?

Chevy needs to make a four door sedan, RWD with an optional AWD, give me 18 inch wheels with 20's as an option, give me big interior room with bucket seats up front and a big trunk out back.

Is Chrysler dipping into the Japanease market with a Magnum or a Charger? Somehow I think not. Who are they making these cars for, them or us?

GM is doing an awesome job with Saturn. The SKY roadster and AURA midsize sedan have tremendous styling. The AURA is getting the same engine as the CTS (3.6L)

I think the rear of the Chevy Cobalt SS is sharp, but I don't get the front. Very bland, IMO.

The Pontiac G6 is also a nice looking car, with the coupe coming out soon.

IMHo Chrysler and Ford do better job than GM (leave Caddies alone) when it comes to exteriers. What do you think?

I agree with you on Chrysler. The engineering may prove to be suspect, but no one brings a concept vehicle to production quicker than Chrysler.

Crossfire, Prowler, Viper, PT Cruiser, 300M, 300C, Concorde LXI, Sebring Convertible, Ram trucks, Magnum and Charger ... one heck of an impressive design record.

Ford? I'm not so sure I agree. The new 500 looks like a tall Passat, and the Focus just looks dull ... after Chrysler, I think Cadillac and the new V series offer the most exciting new cars out there.

1995 STS Crimson Pearl on Black leather

1997 STS Diamond White

1999 STS Crimson Pearl

2001 STS Silver

2003 STS, Crimson Pearl

Yes, Ford's 500 does not look good, but new Mustang is not bad, at least it is much better than 2000.

All the Chrysler cars and trucks you mentioned have something common - they are all good looking vehicles. I do not like much the front of 300C though (too bold). The only Chrysler I have driven was Dodge Neon (rented while on a business trip in SF). It was surprisingly fast. Ford Focus 2000 (a company car) was fun to drive as well. Sure, none of them come even close to my 91 Seville. I do not like the front view of my car. 92 plus Sevilles and Eldorados are great looking cars.

Hey I like the new Charger style, and the new Mustang style.

We don't get the GTO up here, cause of the laws on our bumpers, but oh well.

as far as the new GARBAGE goes, they just don't make cars for guys like me....6'7", and 400lbs.... Just the Devilles!

Can't you sue SOMEBODY???

Come south-of-the-border and sue Cadillac under the ADA for a suitable DeVille?

It could be a freebee!

There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises
