danbuc
The STS has the firmer Sport CVRSS suspenion. Why do you ask...in need of new front struts?
Jeff Wilson
Yes I am going to be replacing the front stuts next year. I am starting to think that the front struts are starting to go South. No error codes for the front but I do have a annoying error code (DTC C1762 LR Position Sensor Input Fault) for the rear that I am going to have to take to the dealership to look at. I already replaced the ride height sensor on the left rear but that didn't solve the problem.
JasonA
Jeff, check the RPO codes underneath your spare tire carrier. There should be a white decal with a bunch of 3-character codes. FE1 is the soft ride suspension. FE3 is the sport suspension. There may be more Fxx options, but yours should at least show FE3. Starting in 1997, all Sevilles had CV-RSS. There are still two "flavors" of CV-RSS...the FE1 and FE3. Jason(2001 STS, White Diamond) "When you turn your car on...does it return the favor?" danbuc
The STS has the Sport version of the Variable suspenion. The SLS has the soft version. If you are going to have the struts replaced at the dealer, it is going to cost roughly $1641.12...in other words..ALOT!!! If you can do the job yourself, I wouldn't recommend it, as you will save at least $200 or so. If you would like, I have the part #'s here for you. 22064765 and 22064766 at $741.56 a piece. If you decide to do the work yourself, I would check out these two websites, as their prices are usually much cheaper on parts than the dealer. http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...m?siteid=213761 http://www.rockauto.com/ If your wondering why I have such an exact price on the struts, it's because I'm reading them off of the Work Order/Reciept for my car when they were done. Unfortunetly, I did not have the time or space needed to do them myself when I needed them, so I had to go to the dealer. Good Luck.
