frost
,,,did you get any closure on the exhaust question you asked last week? Any decision? I think I'm gonna go ahead and get those DMT-style exhaust tips. The angle of the existing exhaust tips line up nicely with the bent angle on the DMTs, which should give me a dual exhaust look that is horizontal to the pavement. My body guy is adept enough with the cutter to enlarge the cutouts on the rear valence, but I'm not sure what to do re: the extra metal shield that should be there to ensure there are no melting/fire issues. You say to enlarge the cutouts on the rear valence. You have cutouts on your valence? Please post photos of your existing valence if you can, mine does not have any cutouts.. Also post some photos when you are done, you should look at a stock STS to see what they put above the tips to save them from the heat.. I think Dave said there is sheetmetal. frost
You know, I've got so many photos of "Lucille" in any and all manner of angles, but not ONE of her *smurf* end! I'll have to rectify (no pun intended) that soonest. The cutouts on my '97 are on the small side; I'm guessing that they didn't worry too much about it as the 97-99 Devilles all had the tubes that dumped out down onto the pavement. Those cutouts may be all of 3 inches long and maybe 3/4 inch high. I've been wanting to do this for some time, almost since I purchased the car a year ago. The look of those 4 trumpets exiting from the underbelly of the beast sends a powerful message, IMHO, even on the Devilles. I checked into a CORSA exhaust system last year, but the $$$$ was way too much and besides, they don't make one for the 97-99 Devilles, just the 2000 and up. Mind you, there would only be a coupla pieces that I couldn't use from their system, having to get them fashioned up by the exhaust shop......... HMMM I have to keep my eyes open for a 97 - 99, I didn't notice that they had cutouts. Maybe I can get a rear valence from a 97 and put it on my 96!
