Sounds like a good deal if you plan on keeping the car... If you check with www.gmotors.com, I think you will get a price of over $800 each.. Mike

There are many OEM parts suppliers on-line. Here is one I found recently (this is really Crown Cadillac in Watchung, NJ):

http://www.buy-oem-parts.com/storefront.htm

Typically, the web parts houses make their profit on a flat percentage S&H charge. Now, profit is not immoral / illegal, but shop around for the best 'total' price.

Without the profit factor, these web-based parts purchase options would not exist.

Thanks Jim for that site, its interesting that the Seville Sport struts are $200 cheaper than the Deville struts  for a 96 they are $724 and $683, so the $500 price while not fantastic, is still good, I was thinking about the Deville struts that are $921 each....OUCH

This is all very interesting. The DEALER replaced my front shocks a year ago. Just ofer $600. for both installed! You all make me wonder what they put in! I would have thought that if the DEALER puts in anything other that GM parts, they would have told me!

I think I will go lie under the car and look.

Aloha Ed

Now that is interesting, I had a 91 and the electronic struts were NOT available anymore, they were pretty much the same shocks as the 92.... Maybe he had them in stock sitting there waiting for you... Very Lucky you are. No codes? Are you sure they are electronic or could they be passive?

Aloha Mike,

How can I tell if they are electronic or not?

                        Ed

Ed, well first off, if they were passive or non-electronic you would probably get codes.

I had to look in the manual, its been awhile since I was under the hood of my 91. There are electrical connectors at the tops of the front struts (under the hood), look to see if they are connected, passive struts would not have connections.

My guess is that you got a good deal, you probably got the last electronic struts on the planet! I searched JUNK YARDS nationwide 4 years ago to find them and couldn't....
