Psycho Posted August 15, 2005 Report Share Posted August 15, 2005 Hi today i had a problem with my 1995 STS. After driving realy calm, an error occured... It was the error, that is shown, if there is an defective egr. So i have done the egr-check. One pont of the test is the override to 99... it should read 200 counts or more. It was 182. So after checking the voltage, that was at about 12,3V... i am sure the egr valve is out of order. Or maybe i won't close correctly. I will try to clean it next weekend. But here is my question: Can i close the egr "pipes" and what will happen, if i do so ?? regards .... Psycho btw.... what will a new one cost ??? Scotty Posted August 15, 2005 Report Share Posted August 15, 2005 You will get no EGR flow and probably get detonation and codes. In the old days we used to cap the EGR, this is NOT possible anymore. If it stays reasonable, why don't you buy it and have it shipped to me, I will turn around and ship it to you... You may have picked up competition posting that EBAY sale here! However, a new EGR is only about $55 US, so its not a problem, let me know what you want to do.. Just let me know who ships to Germany, I know the US Mail takes a long time.
