caddypete
My passenger brake light went out, So I figured the bulb burnt. Took it apart and found I have 3 bulbs, none burned out, so I tried the turn signals they work fine, the taillights work fine, four ways fine. put on the brake lights and i get the drivers side and the one above the trunk. Where to I start looking for this bad connection? It is a 2000 Eldo
#1backyard mechanic
TEST THE WIRES WITH A TESTER FIRST TO SEE IF YOU'RE GETTING ANY JUICE TO THE SOCKET. HAVE SOMEONE HOLD DOWN THE BRAKE PEDAL & YOU TEST THE WIRES. MIGHT BE A BAD SOCKET OR BAD GROUND ALSO. GOOD LUCK
Scotty
If you have 2057 brake light bulbs like I do, the solder tips on the bulb wear down and loose contact with the contact. Look inside the socket there are two bars, if it is like mine, I used a prick took to pull the contact up so that it made better contact. If its a 2057 look at the solder tips
caddypete
Thanks Scotty! I took the sockets apart and bent the contacts to make a better conection, it all seems to work now, even though everytime I tested it something else would go out like turn signal, tailight, brake. Finally I got them all working. And they sure do put alot of grease in them sockets, I have seen wheel bearings with less grease than any one of them sockets surprised they make contact at all
Scotty
I have begun to use dilectic (spelling?) grease everytime I change a bulb these days, glad you got it working, Mike If those two solder or lead tips on your bulbs are deformed, I would just replace the bulb
