"Trying on some new shoes" lol

This is what happens when you have lots of time on your hands (summer vacation!), and a DTS at your disposal. lol

The other night, using a primative process, I interchanged the wheels between the two Caddys. The DTS wheels, complete with the Vogues were bolted up to the STS, where as the DTS recieved the STS's wheels...which are in essence CTS wheels with beefier tires. As for the 'primative procedure', I used the tire jacks from each cars trunk, doing one corner of the car at a time. lol

The result was an STS with very formal looking wheels, which I find to look out of place in the STS's sporting nature, and a very plain-jane looking DTS. Again the sporty wheels with blackwalls look mundane on the Deville IMO.

The motivation behind this project was

a)Simple curiosity

and

B) To see what the 'correct' tire size should look like on the STS's new wheels. I got stuck with 'free' (define 'stuck', eh? lol) 225/60R17s when my Dad shod the DTS with vogues. Dispite being stodgy tires, they were good enough to get my new wheels on the car last summer, so how could I say no? Throwing the vogues on the STS gave me the chance to see how much the stance of the car would improve if I had a less dorky tread/sidewall combo. The 235s were are nice improvement, but images of 255s keep dancing through my mind! lol Maybe I should quit while I'm ahead!

Anyway, as they say pics speak louder than words, so here we are...

A convenient side by side comparasson...

My Dad has the DTS away on Chicago business for the day, but I'll get a visual of it too when he gets home.

Oh, and I 'almost' forgot... the STS got a wash for the pics that evolved into claying, and waxing to the paint. lol Sometimes I don't know when to stop!

Those clouds in the pics are looking frieghtening...they lingered in just as I was finishing the car!

As always, your CTS 17in rims look amazing.

The second pic just shows that Vogues don't belong on an STS.

...i dunno....

I normally dislike vogues, but the strip on the tire matches the pinstrip on the car quite nicely....

almost looks good. :P

I was thinking the EXACT same thing as Dave, I don't care for Vogues but on the Seville the strip on the car and the strip on the tire look very cool. However, that said, the Seville looks a little too urban if you ask me. It gives it the Pimp My Ride look whereas with the blackwalls and CTS tires it looks scary aggressive. Thanks for this comparison, I have often throught about how my car would look with sporty looking rims and blackwalls, did you by chance take a photo of the DTS with the blackwalls?

I love that color by the way

Nope, but I'll be sure to snap one up when my Dad gets back from business tonight. He has the car in Chicago for the day.

My vote is for the Vogue's, but not the DTS rims...

There is just something about the look of the Vogue's that just really gets me. I had a set on a gold-package dark cherry 93 STS that I had kind of borrowed from a white 94 SLS for a short time, they were mounted on the prestige octavo wheels that had Vogue center caps, I loved them.

I have a White Diamond STS now, it has gold-pinstriping... I've seen a few photos of this kind of car running Vogue and I have to admit I really love the look. I don't mind the extra maintenance (especially in the Northeast) and despite claims of their lack of longevity - my father has had a few sets that held up pretty well

I'm on my third set of Pilots, and due for new tires fairly soon. Maybe I'll look at Vogue

Man both, I can't complain about both, they both look great. I've been a fan of the 17" DTS wheels since they came out with them. I love the fan blade look of them and my heard really gets going when they are wrapped in Vogue bands. And those CTS wheels are magnificent.

Hey STS Scoot, not fair you have more of a shine on the blackwall tires than on the vogues. I think the blackwalls look nice and so do the vogues. But your ride looks better in the top pic. I think the extra shine is winning me over.

LOL :D

Thanks for the copmlements guys. I agree with most of you that the vogues & wheels look a little out of place relative to the 'muscular' look of the normal CTS wheels.

They look very much out of place on the DTS, IMO.

I snapped some pics this morning of the DTS, before putting the wheels back to their respective owners.

It has been raining off and on here the last couple of days, so neither car is 'mint' if you'll excuse the rain residue!

Here is the DTS in an other little comparo colage I conjured up with my limited 'skills'...

That's a very cool set of pictures.. Very informative, the Deville does not look bad with the CTS wheel and blackwall combo.... That would give a more sportly look to my boat without going looking out of place... Thanks for the effort! Mike

The pleasure was mine!

I agree, the Deville looks much sportier...almost 2005 STSish. Gee, don't they put those wheels on the new STSs? ;)

Maybe that's why! LOL

I like the formal look of the Deville better though. Then again I have the STS to get my 'performance kicks'!

For what it's worth, I like the CTS wheels and blackwall tires better on BOTH!
