Phillip
I have a '96 STS with a small coolant leak that I am having trouble finding. The coolant has gone down at least a litre in two weeks. I suspect it is near the water pump, since there are traces of coolant directly below this area. Unfortunately I cannot pinpoint the source. I have pressurized the system with 15 psi of air. The pressure only drops about a pound a minute but still no visible source. Does anyone have any suggestions where I should look or should I just change the coolant and add another batch of sealant? The coolant is due for a change anyway.
adallak
Open the hood, increase the RPMs to say 3000 (while in park) and watch carefully suspected areas for leaks. The saddest thing in life is wasted talent
Ranger
Get the air duct out of the way and slip your fingers under the bottom edge of the water pump cover. See if they come out wet. Those cover gaskets have been redesigned because they are a known problem. If that is where the leak is, sealant tabs would probably seal it. canadian95sts
I would definatley listen to the above advice. I had a similar leak on my old 95 sts and could not find it, i changed the rad fluid and put sealent into the rad hose, and it seemd to do the trick. Then I hit a deer, about a week later, problem solved, bought a newer caddy. Phillip
While I would like a newer caddy, I think I will make do for now. I found the leak. After three hours, there is still pressure on the system and I am noticing a wet spot where the heater hose meets the housing. This is directly above the wet areas noted before. Given that it is a 10 year old car, I guess I will replace the hose rather than take a chance. Thanks for the help.

Too true, I was there when it happened! 60 feet from where I wrote off my Deville a year ago from a deer! Big Jay Life is too short to grow up!
