Deville

Mike.

Are you thinking of doing it yourself?

If you took it to an exhaust shop, it would not be hard at all for them to modify it.

LOOKS SWEET though!

LOL

I like that car! An older Deville, converted to a DTS! It has the newer wheels too!

Nicely done.

I think you should go for it!

Well I don't care for the wheels, but I like the visible exhaust outlets. I was hoping that a rear valence was made for my body style with the exhaust cutouts in it, but I don't think so. I am afraid that the exhaust will discolor or melt the valence, I think the valence is fiberglass...

You have a good point. I think the valance is just a rubber-like material -- it's very flexible on my Seville. There's a relatively thick plastic "plate" affixed to the valance cutouts, right above where the pipes sit (you can't see it unless you get down and look up) that I assume protects the valance somewhat from the heat of the exhaust tips. If you'd like a picture, I can take one for you.

On my 97 Concours I put on a couple stainless round tips. I used a hack saw blade to cut the openings for the tips in the valance. If your carefull it'll look "factory". I then went to the muffler shop and in 15 min. the job was done.

Go for it....

Funny 'ting you should mention, Scotty: I saw that picture a year ago (think it was on cardiodoc's page - maybe not) and wanted to do the same for my '97. As you know, the exhaust just "dumps" out downward towards the road on our Steeds.

Without changing the mufflers, i figure that the dual tips that come out on an angle (DTM-style), MIGHT be a workable alternative. With the bend in the pipe @ the end of the tips, the tips should end up horizontal to the road.

As for the valance, I thought I'd have to carefully cut out a slightly wider opening and make darn sure that the tips were far enough below the valance to ward off any heat/melt/fire issues.

A neighborhood Brown Univ engineering student bought a wrecked low milage 95 SLS and parted it out as a Summer Project last year. I bought the entire exhaust system including Cat for $20. My local mechanic installed it, including adding a section after the Cat and two short extensions before the mufflers for $60.

It was very easy as all the hangers worked out well.

This little mod gave me an honest 1.5 mgh at 75 mph! :)

The sound has a nice little rumble to it as well.

If you are doing this to a N* you would not need the front extension. The Seville mufflers are smaller and fit up in there better than the big deville ones.

I will post a picture, they look good, and no heat damage to the rear valence.

I like the rectangle tips also. The problem with my car is that it looks too much like its wearing a tux, so I have to be careful with performance look. I thought the familiar looking tips that I showing above wouldnt look to far out of the ordinary

This is a night shot with a 200 mm zoom lens from across the parking lot, the car was under lights, the picture does not do it justice, it looked great

Mike, on my eldo there is a small peice of metal shaped above the exaust, a heat shield I assume, to protect from melting. This could be easily done on yours I would think.

Mike, went searching through my archives and found a pic that I took when I installed a hitch last year, I went ahead and uploaded it. It shows the metal over the exaust.....maybe this will help....
