addison_ii
That's a nice ride you got there. Nice inside and out. I guessing some tinted windows are in order. It looks just like the STS Sly Stallone drove in "Get Carter".

Bill K
Nice looking STS. I painted the gray licence area black to match the car. Just a thought....
ByStorm
Yeah, that's what I did with my '01 STS Tinted the windows, wood package inside and also bought the fully chromed (oem) rims off of e-bay. I will get some pictures later. One...

bigjayzway
Nice ride, what was wrong with the Suspension? I haven't the slightest clue? I have not had the chance to get under and see anything. I can tell you it seems to ride great, but the info. center says "service suspension system" What does this mean?....I don't know? JasonA
the info. center says "service suspension system" What does this mean?....I don't know? It means a sensor is malfunctioning somewhere. It means either one of the electronic struts is failed, or a position sensor is failed, or even a postition sensor LINK has come off (this happened on our '97 once). There are a variety of things that it could be. Pull the codes and let us know. Jason(2001 STS, White Diamond) "When you turn your car on...does it return the favor?" OynxSTS
I'm curious Bigway, was this a private sale? Why didn't you get the dealer to fix this before you took the car... If one of you shocks/struts have failed this is going to be very expensive... If one of you shocks/struts have failed this is going to be very expensive... It was a private sale. I couldn't pass up the price I got it for. Like I said it rides awesome, so I can't notice anything wrong. There aren't any codes! Big Jay Life is too short to grow up!
Scotty
If you are getting service suspension system, you should be getting codes.
JasonA
Yeah, if there is a message, there are codes. The car may ride just fine, and still have a suspension problem. The codes will be under the RSS section in the DIC. Press OFF and PASS WARMER (or whatever the procedure is for a '98) to retrieve all the codes. Wait until the RSS section comes up and write down any/all codes. There should be some if that message is appearing. canadian95sts
Jay, Check this out as well, Well I don't know about the 94, but on the 98 it would be (the road sensing suspension) the little servo behind the wheels.. Take the wheel off, look for a little servo type unit with a bar coming from it and a small ball joint going down to the arm , i think it's behind the tie rod end.. very easy to see.. let me remember what it looks like....... it's like a little black round case that looks like a servo case) and it has a little metal tab on top with a ball which this little arm pops into (like R/C cars) and the other end of the arm goes to the (not sure what it's called.. control arm? a-arm? the thing the wheel hooks up to that moves up and down hehe) Hope this helps.. I can take a picture and upload it if you really need it That is for the fron wheel Matt A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...BUT, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "darn...that was fun!" www.madd.ca

canadian95sts
heres another, I have a 98 STS and got the same message about a month after I got it. It turned out that the connectors that link the suspension arms to the ride control sensor had bcome detatched. This caused the sensors to get stuck al the way up. Because of this the computer thought there was a suspension problem. I reattatched the connectors and the message went away as soon as I turned the car back on. Plus the ride and handling got much better. Hope this helps. matt A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...BUT, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "darn...that was fun!" www.madd.ca
bigjayzway
I'll tell you I hope it is going to be this easy? My luck it won't It just seems odd only the passenger side is being effected? anyone else have any ideas? Big Jay Life is too short to grow up! OynxSTS
Okay... I got the codes. They are c1761 c1763 What to do now? Big Jay Rigth front and right rear sensor fault. As always start with the cheapest and easiest first... Pull the front passenger wheel and look at the botom of the strut. There is a little plasic bit that connects the strut to the senor... Is it still connected? It snaps on and off... Could be as easy as that... I'll pull my manual and see how to test the sensors.. JasonA
C1761 and C1763 are probably the *position* sensors (vs. the struts themselves), which are connected to the suspension via a small link arm. This basically tells the computer at what level the control arms sit. As I stated before, one of these had come off our Seville once before...easy to put back into place. Check the link arms first...then check the actual sensors. Jason(2001 STS, White Diamond) "When you turn your car on...does it return the favor?" bigjayzway
I will be taking it into the shop tonight. Just wondering if anyone has any pics of these sensors? I am pretty sure I will find them, just would be nice to go to my mechanic, and say, "Oh, here are some pics of the sensors". Unless they are so prominnant, and easy to find? Thanks again guys! Oldgamer
Of course you can go to mechanic, but look: 1. Car runs fine. 2. You will buy the factory service manual anyway, right? (If you still not have it yet) 3. This is so easy to follow diagnostic tree of your manual and find what's happened 4. Mechanics in general don't like if somebody teaches them or shows them how to do this or that. Your idea to show picture... In best case csenario mechanic will look at you and say: "What do you think, I don't know how it looks? If you're so smart go and fix yourself!". And anyway, who needs a mechanic who doesn't know how looks position sensor? 5. Cost of sensor will be around ~$70-100 plus labor. They will change a sensor no matter what, even if just a bad connection is an issue. 6. You will lose a chance to learn something. What do you think?
