TDK
zr1sls1996, Outstanding first picture! Was this a GM photo release or one of your own car? Try this site for access procedures and codes: http://myweb.accessus.net/~090/dtcobd2.html It seems as if you were trying the right combo. Maybe someone else will advise you differently. I have not heard of a code being set by installation of another airbox etc. Just what all are you removing to do this? Sorry, but from what I have read on this site, unless you professionally mod the heads etc - the stock air filter is unbeatable. It is simply not the bottle neck (keep the cool sticker tho). If you don't mind a bit more noise then a corsa type exhaust will add some actual hp. All IMHO Add power to leave problems behind. Most braking is just - poor planning. canadian95sts
Not sure why you cant access the obd system. You could always buy a code scanner, i think they are pretty cheap , $40-$60 i think. zr1sls1996
THe Photo is a Factory one ,just thought it looked cool ! Thanks TDK & Canadian95sts for the Quick reply . I removed the stock air box and the stock hose to it & replaced with a New K&N Cone type filter along with the chrome tube , reattached all the clamps and the sensor at old box into the path of the new one. Engine does not want to run or Idle at all ?? I Guess It is a return to the factory box & filter %^&* ! And the light is back on , and still unable to access the obd ? Thanks folks for any & all Info on this . I will reseach and try to find the problem,or something sure hate to put that old stuff back on . I gutted half of it X-perimenting LOL............ HEY ANYONE WANT TO TRADE OLD STOCK AIR BOX FOR K&N CONE-CHROME TUBE-CLAMPS-ETC...LOL......... I think leaving stock @ stock is wonderful advice. As for the air box, I've looked every now and then for a good stock intake tube, since I drilled a hole in mine for the IAT sensor when I had my K&N cone. I think there are a few people out there who would like to trade their K&N back for a stock air box. Jason(2001 STS, White Diamond) "When you turn your car on...does it return the favor?" Scotty
If you have not gotten into the diagnostics yet, check to see if the buttons work separately, see if WARMER works and see if OFF works on their own, you may need to clean up the bottons, someone else here was having trouble with their bottons also..I think Marika
KHE
If your Seville has the analog instrumentation, press and hold the OFF and PASSENGER WARMER buttons to enter diagnostics. Scotty
If your Seville has the analog instrumentation, press and hold the OFF and PASSENGER WARMER buttons to enter diagnostics. Kevin he was reporting that he could not get into the diagnostics, if there are dual AC controls can either WARMER (used with off) be used to access the DIC? Is is always the passenger warmer or are you trying to eliminate the driver warmer?
ero1220
I have, as other N* drivers here also have, replaced the stock air box after trying a higher flow intake. It was seen that the claims these manufacturers make about higher airflow were a little dubious - it seemed there was a little more air and a little less filter. The higher flow intake also has a tendency to spread the powerband in the N* and considerably alter the acceleration characteristics of the car. Whether there was any gain in power or not I don't know... In my case, the combination of the higher flow intake and widened exhaust wasn't so good. It ran and felt great, acclerated smooth and kept strong through the mid and higher engine speeds... but about 50% of the time the engine would turn over and struggle to start. My guess is I couldn't make that high pressure the N* runs at, but replacing the more restrictive filter solved the problem. Most cars come from the factory with the equivalent of asthma, but as far as I can tell the Northstar breathes just fine through the stock airbox. Scotty
The other issue that bothers me by changing the air box to a K&N besides the fact that a K&N filter allows more dirt to get into the engine is that the PCM is located in the intake air stream for cooling purposes. In traffic in hot weather I would be concerned that no air was flowing by the PCM and that it would operate hotter than it would if air was flowing by... It is my understanding that capacitors particularly, are sensitive to heat and their life is shortened by heat, why accelerate the process..
