mike93STS
As this is my first post I would like to start by thanking everyone associated with this site as it has been a source of great inspiration for my self and others I am sure. I have been getting a P039 & P070 codes popping up on my 93 STS with 205K. I cleared the codes last night and drove the car to work this morning it took 18 miles of highway driving (cruise set at 78mph) for it set off the SES light. I have looked up the codes and the P039 is Torque converter related and P070 is the TPS signal. My question is are the two codes associated with each other and what would be the next course of action to rectify this situation. I do have at my disposal a slightly used TPS from an engine swap; can I just remove the troubled one and replace it with the newer one? Any suggestions are appreciated. Ranger
I do not believe there is an association between the two. Yes, you can just swap the TPS.
ptscaddy1
My mechanic told me to ingore P039 & just to drive the car, since the inspection would require major surgery. That was approx. 10,000 miles ago & the car runs fine. check archives for posts about P039. Good luck
mike93STS
Thank you for the feedback on the P039 code. I have a hard time leaving it knowing that something is not right it just bugs me. Any thoughts on the TPS P070 code, is it as simple as taken old off and putting new on? Thank you all, Mike
