I just came back from the mechanic, he was going to replace the old, rattling cat. converter with a new after market converter. The new converter was about 1 1/2 inches too short. I have to go back next week. In the meanwhile, he recharged my air conditioner.

If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.

Make sure you get a brand name cat.

Don't let them sell you a cheap offshore(whitebox) cat.

I have seen too many problems with these, including loss of power.

the one that they had, although it was the wrong size, stated "Made in USA". I guess that's ok?? It also has a warranty but I have to go back next Saturday.

Marika,

I sorta wondered about your A/C a week or so ago when you noted "matter of fact style" that it had no A/C! And something about running a blowers was not too bad and all becaus it was insulated, etc.

As hot as it was out there I was was thinking... Yow! that gal is a lot tougher than I am

And even if I could stand it (as cheap as I am), "she who must be obeyed" - would be a lot hotter than the car! :P

It seems you are well under way with you cat-con replacement. Another member posted something about $900 to replace! :o

If you don't mind, could you please note the parts and labor costs when its done and an changes (aside from a lack of clunking underneath)?

Thanks and :) good luck

Add power to leave problems behind. Most braking is just - poor planning.

The car is well insulated, I've noticed. Even in the winter time I have to say it's not that cold inside the car. Talking about sound, that's more proof of how well it's insulated. I've had to learn to drive with the radio turned down or else I can't hear emergency vehicle sirens...

Where I work I get to park my car underground so when I get in the car at 5:00 PM, the interior was probably around 80F instead of the usual 200F when a dark car is parked in the sunlight all day long on a day when the exterior temperature is 100F and let's not forget about leather seats and what they are capable of...

I'm not sure how long the AC will hold the charge. But since he didn't ask for any money I accepted his offer.

Autumn/Winter is my favorite time of year but I can toughen myself against the summer heat as well. So far we've had a high of about 103F which is cold for you folks out in Nevada!!

I'll post the costs when it done.

Cheers!
