MARK 99STS
One interesting thing I learned when putting my car back together was when we took the hood off it turned out to be fiberglass. Does anybody know what yr Cadillac started putting fiberglass hoods on? MARK 99STS TURBOCHARGED

JimD
An aluminum alloy is one possibility. I do not know what the upper skin is made from, but judging from the way it is rolled-folded-crimped where the edges join the frame, I would lean away from the material being glass. JohnnyG
You mean plastic. As developed by Ashland Oil Co. and first used in the Saturn upon it's introduction. Makes it mid 80's I think. Possibly earlier in the Chevrolet (mid engined sports car?) I forget the real name of the polymer (and the car). My '99 has a plastic hood. Trunk is steel however. Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed.
