Logan
Having regreased my 2001 DTS steering for about the 4th time.....for clunking. I now see that there is a new replacement style has been released. I dont have the parts #s etc in front of me. I will try to post those latter. The new # is really cheap compared to the older style. Old was $400. New part is $77 at gmpartsdirect. They show a list of $138. It covers: Mote Carlo Seville My guess would also cover the Deville. Plus a couple of other models. Dadillac
The clunking that you are getting from your steering shaft, is it a fast clunk? Does it only happen when you experience uneven roads? The reason I ask, is because my Seville is doing this. It kind of sounds like when a front end component is loose, and wiggles around. It certainly sounds as if it could be the steering shaft, but I am not sure. Thanks for any info you can give, Don "Modern warriors saddle iron horses of chrome." Logan
No, its a low speed turning clunk. GM had a TSB clunking and using a new grease. The new grease is sticker....but turns out it is not a long term fix.... I just regreased mine...so I am ok for a while. Maybe 10k Old shaft replacements were in the $400 range. The new ones are in the $75-80 range at gmpartsdirect.com . The Seville unit is part # 10367811. I suspect the Deville is the same...but you better check first. For Scotty....I think his Monte has this issue...it is # 10376429 Logan Diagnostic LLC www.airbagcrash.com www.ledfix.com www.ledfix.com/yukontaillightrepair.html www.ledfix.com/ledreplacements.html www.ledfix.com/j42385toolrental.html
