melhinkle
I have a 2001 STS and the AC quit working last week. It was a slow process where it would work sometimes and not others. Then it started to go off while the car was running and come back on in five ir ten minutes. Last week it quit completely. Man! Is it hot in there!! Anyway, I had several suggestions from Cadillac Owners forums as to what the problem might be. Blower Motor or Connector. What I am trying to find is a detailed diagram online of the blower motor and assembly. My husband is an ace mechanic and can change whatever needs to be changed, but it would help to have something to look at first. Thanks in advance. KHE
A little more information would be helpful. When the A/C is turned on, does the clutch engage? Does the accumulator (large aluminum can by the surge tank) get cold? Does the blower motor operate? Check for onboard diagnostics codes - Simultaneously press and hold the OFF and INFO UP buttons and write down any codes that are displayed on the information center and post back. melhinkle
I don't know about the things you are asking. I checked the diagnostic codes yesterday and nothing came up. All I can say is when it started acting up it would not work when I started the car, but the next time I started the car it would work. It did this for a few times and then worked great for a week or so. Then it would start to turn off as I was driving. It would stay off for a few minutes and then come back on and then go off again. It doesn't make any noise when I turn the fan on high. There is no odd smell or weird noises. The rear AC fan works fine. Dealer said it is probably the blower motor. If the blower module was bad it would work on say, level 1 and 3, but not level 2 or 4. I found the blower motor at GM Parts Direct for $143.00. I would like to find a diagram of how to change it somewhere online for my husband.

When you press the auto button, open the hood and feel the accumulator - it is a large aluminum can that is near the radiator surge tank (where you fill the coolant). The accumulator should be cold to the touch. If it is, the A/C is fine and it is time to replace the blower motor. I don't have a shop manual for a 2001 but maybe someone could post the pictorial view for you. melhinkle
I ran the codes yesterday and they were clear. I just went out and ran them again and DIM B1324 came up as History. I checked my manual I printed from here and that shows an A/C Refridgerent Overpressure. Can someone tell me what that means?
