OynxSTS
I'm looking for some advice from anyone who has dug down and replaced these sensors. So far, from the Helm Service Guide... it says remove them from underneath. Sound simple enough one bolt re&re… but when I look… It looks like they are tucked in nice and safe behind the motor mount. I have read on some other posts that it is recommended to replace both A and B sensors since there is “a lot of stuff in the way” Has anyone completed this common fix? Any tips? Can anyone define “a lot of stuff”? Do I need to remove the motor mount? The fans? The Rad!? Argh… Happy July 1st to our Canadian readers and Happy pending July 4th Easin' down the highway in a new Cadillac, I had a fine fox in front, I had three more in the back ZZTOP, I'm Bad I'm Nationwide Greg
JimD
Drop the oil filter. Drop the oil filter adapter. Use new O rings when reinstalling. Remove the bottom filler panel (between bumper and cradle). Take a pix of the crank position sensor connectors so you are sure to put them back on correctly. I used an assortment of 1/4" drive pieces to get a 10MM socket on the sensor bolts. Doable. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE ! OynxSTS
Thanks Jim... This sounds ever so slightly easier than the cabin filter... OynxSTS
Jim & Logan You guys rock! "Doable" On my 02 STS the oil filter and adapter were definitely in the way... Total job time was about 45 minutes... Could do it in 25-35 next time... Absolutely no way to snake in a 1/4" driven 10 mm to the sensor bolt... got it with the trusty ol' box wrench Original sensor Part no 12559530 was totally round (cylindrical)… new one was “D” shaped… Car runs fine now… No codes and no stubbles or stalls (not like it stalled a lot before anyway) I have read on some other sites that I need to do a “case learn” to finalize the repair... Is this required? Of course that "other site" states that the "B" sensor is the one on top... Thanks again guys...
