ted tcb
I tried to open my unlocked car this morning, and had to open the driver's door from inside. The power door locks work fine, the interior handle works fine, but the exterior handle isn't opening the door. Is it hard to get into the door ... any suggestions on clips would be appreciated. I assume I'm looking for a disengaged rod or something similar. The handle feels fine, doesn't feel any different from the passenger's exterior handle. Thanks in advance. 1989 FWD Fleetwood, Silver 1995 STS Crimson Pearl on Black leather 1997 STS Diamond White 1999 STS Crimson Pearl 2001 STS Silver 2003 STS, Crimson Pearl
Ranger
I am sure it is just a disconnected linkage rod. Not difficult if you are reasonably mechanical.
johnnya
had the same problem with my deville. the problem was in the handle itself. the outside handle was broken and had to be replaced. be carefull taking the interior door panel off as there are a lot of screws and electrical molex plugs. it could be the rod has fallen of but it is doutful. johnnya
ted tcb
Problem fixed, thank you JohhnyA and Ranger. I stopped by Johnny's house, had a few pops on the porch, and then we proceeded to finesse the door skin off. It's actually pretty easy ... just two screws, but we missed the one hidden in behind the map pocket ... oops. Then, the clips lift upwards for removal. The linkage rod has a small plastic connector that grips the rod ... thats it, so simple. Thanks again, Ted. 1989 FWD Fleetwood, Silver 1995 STS Crimson Pearl on Black leather 1997 STS Diamond White 1999 STS Crimson Pearl 2001 STS Silver 2003 STS, Crimson Pearl
