Engine cover

Hey guys, quick question. On a 95 STS Northstar, is it okay to run engine without the "cosmetic" engine cover. Just wondering, cause I had removed it messing with the wire routing and the fuel pressure gauge and drove around a little with the cover off.

I think its only for appearances and to minimize the injector noise, its fine to drive without it.

Early on sailors navigated by the stars at night and the North star became the symbol for finding ones way home. Once you know where the Northstar is you can point your ship in the right direction to get home. So the star became a symbol for finding ones way home or more symbolically even finding ones path in life.

Just don't try it on a 93 or 94 N*. The cover on those engines is required as it seals the plenum from the atmosphere. There is a caution in the book about not starting the 93 or 94's with the cover removed.

I believe that the 95's up had a redesigned plenum that are sealed independently of the cover.
