Jeff
I have a CONSTANT service engine soon light on. Whenever I check the codes (I can't remember the number) I get the crank postion sensor number ?? What is that and what do I do about?? Thanks again- Jeff
jhall
Jeff, There are two crank position sensors that bolt into the engine block above the oil filter adapter. These sensors confirm the position of the crankshaft to control (among other things), the timing of the ignition pack. If the sensors fail, you may have stalling and/or cranking problems. It may also simply be a bad connection, so try locating the sensors, then remove and reinstall them (do them one at a time so you don't mix up the connectors). Assuming one or both need replacing, replacement is not too bad, but the engine needs to be cool and you'll need to work from under the car. Hope this helps! jhall
Jeff, A clarification - I did not mean to say that you need to actually remove the sensor - I meant to say to remove the connectors and reinstall them to see if the problem is because of a poor conection.
