67coupedeville
I'm going to attempt to revive some old leather on our 89 Fleewood and was wondering which way to condition them. Does the saddle soap clean the leather and mink oil moistens it? Any help, as always is appreciated. Spence
Ranger
I'm no expert on leather care but I thing you have it right. Saddle "soap" is a cleaner and mink oil is conditioner.
MAC
I'm no expert either, but I remember reading that leather can become too soft if it's over treated. I just use saddle soap--it works pretty well. Be careful not to use a product that contains silicone. I think silicone is not good. If I remember correctly several months ago this topic was discussed at length.
Ed Hall
My leather started out like cardboard and I used Eagle 1 conditioner to make it soft and supple again. What I did was on a very hot day, I parked the car in the sun with the windows up and generously applied the conditioner on the leather. After about an hour, I would come back and add more conditioner on any place where the leather had soaked up all the conditioner up. I just kept on applying until the leather no longer soaked up any more conditioner. It took about two days of reapplying to get the leather soft as new. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises

If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.
Regis
Has anyone ever tried Dr Martens wonder balsam? It's a neutral wax base that can be used on any color leather. I've used it on shoes and several leather jackets with excellent results. I have yet to try in on the caddy leather but will in the near future. My rear seat looks a little rough from the previous water damage. Perhaps I'll take some before and after pics to post. -kg "Burns" rubber " I've never considered myself to be all that conservative, but it seems the more liberal some people get the more conservative I become.
