Bruce Nunnally
General Motors has agreed to form a strategic investment and commercial collaboration with Controlled Thermal Resources to secure local and low-cost lithium. This lithium will be produced through a closed-loop, direct extraction process that results in a smaller physical footprint, no production tailing and lower carbon dioxide emissions when compared to traditional processes like pit mining or evaporation ponds. cdgrinci
Hopefully this process will be economical; so maybe an exportable product, as well as a secure Li source for in-house battery production. If you believe that the BEV revolution will happen as fast as they predict (personally I think it's coming but at a slower pace) a secure source for Li will be critical. I sure hope 'someone' has a plan for all these Li batteries when they start needing to be re-cycled.
