Frank Carbone
Hello all My tach (Anilog) is acting very strange these days. It seems to work as if there is a 4cyl engine attached to it. The car idles at 1500-2000 and the shift points are 7000-infinity. The car is a 92 seville 4.9L. I do not want to replace the cluster if I don't have to. These units a quite expenseive but it makes me nervous seeing the tach barried most of the time. How do these units recieve the rpm signal? Is it a wire off the distributor or is it controlled by the computer? Also someone told me that I can't just replace the cluster because of security features. Once replaced the unit has to be reprogrammed so as the chip on the key is recognised by the unit. Can anyone verify if this is so? Thanks for your help Frank
