General Motors' prestige division brazenly declared that its 1967 Fleetwood Eldorado was the "World's Finest Personal Car." It was a provocative assertion for a newcomer to an established market, where the Thunderbird, the progenitor of the species, was competing with the Riviera, Toronado, and Grand Prix for the hearts and wallets of an upscale clientele. This new Cadillac was the highest-priced offering in the personal/luxury car fray.
