CampoCougar
'95 Seville STS, 4.6. Replaced the water pump, rented tool from O'Reilly. That went well. However, the next morning, the battery completely dead. This did not make sense. I charged the battery, and then noticed the dash display stays on without the key,' and the blower motor runs also. I disconnected the harness plug to the blower motor, and again this morning, battery dead. This seemed too coincidental to just have suddenly happened. I am thinking that while coolant drained when I took the hoses off, it had spilled onto ABS brake modulator and the the EBTCM module and harness. Even though these items are not related to the HVAC system, a Cadillac online tech suggested that the serial wiring harness on the EBTCM could have caused power problems, even if seemingly unrelated. It does make sense, as the wiring was under the water pump was saturated with coolant. I would hate to just change the blower module head (which contains the relay) just to have this keep happening. Any suggestions? I need the car right now, and if I have too, I will just put a quick disconnect on the battery, and shut if off when parked. Don't want to go that routed, but may not have a choice. Any troubleshooting ideas? Thanks everyone.
BodybyFisher
If you have not disconnected the battery, take the negative cable off the battery first, then remove the positive cable, then touch the cables together for a minute. Then attach the positive cable then the negative cable and see if that helps. That will 'reboot' the system. This has nothing to do with the blower PS did you disconnect the battery during the waterpump job? However, I probably should have. Thanks man !!

Thanks so much!!! It worked. I disconnected both cables completley, and grounded them to each other, and also pulled the fuses for the PCM, HVAC, cooling and ignition. Let it sit overnight. Everything is functioning as normal. Great lesson learned !
